I’ve commissioned my ultimate amp, a 10y drives 300b with vintage Tango iron from Oliver Sayes. Any recommendations on the best 10 y tubes?

Lets say that I have majority of "best" 10Y and variants options - Radiotron 801 black plates, Radiotron 801 silver plates (both globe and very rare), WE VT25, Taylor Vt25 carbon plates, VT25 normal ones, different ST shape 10Y tubes, Elrog 801 and proudly above all stands 801 globe black plates...all used and tested in my Tobian SC12 preamp...

Golum,
Thank you for your post. Just for clarity, the Radiotron 801 black plate is your favorite 10y varient?

Thanks,
Jeffrey

Thank you for the link!

Jeff, FYI - the Western Electric VT-25A is not the same as a VT-25 and will not work properly in a circuit designed for 10/10Y/801/801A/VT-25/VT-62. The use of the Western Electric VT-25A could possibly damage your amp.

Thank you Carlos. It will take approximately two months for my amps so I have plenty of time to research.

Yes - that is the one i use daily. Can't remember when was the last time I used any of the other ones as this one is just the best one.
TBH Elrog is also great but somewhat in my book behind NOS ones and more expensive on top...but you won't go wrong with WE or Taylor VT25 anyhow.

The western electric is not good in the VT25. I don’t like the Taylor’s either. I compared them, as well as Elrog, Sylvania, and GE. The latter two are the cheaper regular horses if you don’t want to use up your RCA and Cunningham

The 300b valve difference will be much higher
