Hello,

I just added these to my system and they hum (you can hear it 10 feet away) while in standby mode. I have a dedicated circuit and I also tried them connected to a Shunyata Denali with the same result. Is this normal?

Thanks in advance,
jk

I used to own MX-R's a few years back. I demo'd the 20's. Both hummed for me. I did find Transparent power cords helped as well as a Shunyata Typhon plugged in parallel with them. Great amps, it's just a "feature" I'm afraid. My current amps hum some...but it's not as noticeable as the Ayres.

My dealer's set had the same "feature" as you and I.

I've had this happen with top flight amps over the years, various brands. Price for horse power I guess.

PS, I did open the covers and put in Hi Fi Tuning fuses internally. From memory about 5 fuses are inside each amp. It's a nice improvement along with the mains fuse next to the AC inlet. The inside of MX-R's are a model of modern engineering and build quality-quite amazing honestly.
