Do we really want What'sBestForum to ever become AVShowroomsForum?...

Good morning gentlemen.

I find it interesting how some people can bring out the worst in others. I confess to often having that problem myself

There are many valid opinions here from both sides but what rises from the ashes and I have said it so many times here before that it all boils down to the presentation by the poster and how it is done. Yes there are those who make the hair on our necks curl but as I learned from my years in clinical medicine that what makes a great teacher is one who maintains equanimity under stress. Like all of you who have posted I too share similar emotions so what's the solution

1. Don't engage these individuals if they rattle your cage so often

2. Press the "Ignore" button

It becomes sometimes all too difficult to separate emotions from fact and all I ask is for everyone to maintain composure whichever side you come from. Finally IMO it serves no purpose to compare one website to another and hurl epithets. Peter and Myles drew their line in the sand and walked out and started their own web site. We all know how that went but please don't start threads where other sites are called out and then use this as an excuse to bash members here.

"press the ignore button" If one is given his own sandbox to serve as a pulpit but no one plays in the sand box, the message will be loud and clear to that individual. To fight fire with fire however gentlemen is a step beneath every one's dignity as I see it and only makes all of you stoop to the same level and I know that all of you don't want that. So please try to maintain equanimity under stress

Excellent Post!

What the Man says

Anyway, as for your he will be gone, from what treitz posted, all mods except one wanted him banned.
That is not what I said at all. Nobody is requesting a ban of any member.

Nice post, Steve.

AVS with Science being in its name doesn't go for the magical doohicky, sighted, subjective as fact reviews. So I like it for that.

There are certainly bigger fish to fry.

..be careful using that acronyn...AVS. That's actually Von Schweikert Audio a far cry from Peter the Expert's site...just sayin'

And there is also AVSForums, a totally different beast

Apologies for mis interpreting

No problem.

I see no point in banning anyone unless they are really over the top. I would not put anyone on this forum in that category at the moment.

Since Myles' name was mentioned I just wanted to say that I've always liked him, and still do. He was nothing but a gentleman and very helpful in all of the conversations I ever had with him. And just because he chose to align himself with Peter B. doesn't mean I've changed my view or considered it.

A once unified forum can become very polarised due to one or 2 individuals.. often a week timeout is the best solution for those that glorify in formenting strife .. they either move on to pastures anew or modify themselves
the real problem is the aftermath , the polarization is not forgotten and a lot of posts or responses to those posting are made in that light rather than the info that is being discussed.

. . . AVShowroomsForum . . . Ron Resnick was banned from there. RON for Christ's sake!!! If you know him like I do, you'll realise he should be the LAST person banned from anything. . . .

That is very sweet, Marc! Thank you.

Ron is probably one of the nicest and most sincere people I have ever met and would agree. There has to be something wrong over there for anyone to ban Ron. I have hosted him 3X and have been to his Beverly Hills palatial home a few weeks ago and he is just the most unassuming guys anyone could ever meet

I haven't read everything that "certain member" has posted, but I haven't really seen ayd shilling or trolling (a subject or position that is highly controversial or challenging to your sensibilities is not trolling, no matter how hard you find it to tolerate such impudence). And I've seen more violations of TOS from the outraged than from him. Misinformation? Good lord, kids, this is an audiophile forum. MOST of it is misinformation. Some of the foundational beliefs of the hobby are, at least unsupported information. I think there are a few here who really just can't stand to have their wisdom questioned in anything but the most polite, almost apologetic terms. The answer isn't banning anyone who is too direct or who has a sense of humor regarding the ridiculous. The answer is grow thicker skin, girls.

I just use my Blizzard Filter Rules and life is easy. I react to his helpful comments, and ignore when he writes about stuff he has no clue about.

banning him? and what that might say about us?

any other 'high end' forum would have long banned him by now. not just 'that' other one. Spirit, your comments are needlessly provocative. no need to drag that forum into the Blizzard problem.

Sorry Mike, I dutifully disagree.
If anyone should be banned from WBF, it's not Blizzard w/his willful provocative ways.
It's not even the long-term member here who after our long running spat on the Entreq thread pretty much called me a patsy in public by posting the long-deleted 15 min psychic healing video.

No, it should have been Peter B, calling us all wankers, and taking his toys with him.
He should have been banned even if he doesn't want us, and told good riddance he can't come back.
All I saw was a core of comments defending him amongst the reasonable anger directed at him. Well, I'm here to defend Blizz who in my mind has done nothing near as objectionable as Peter.
And this is after Blizz called me a liar online/deliberately warping things.

My point is not to slate AVSF, just for us to be aware that Blizz may not be the first or the last to be banned. I really value the thrust of threads on WBF, and I'd hate it if an unintended side effect of banning loud voices was a slide into obsequiosness.

Oh and don't forget how he slandered our Philly audio group over there. I think Peter still visits this site BTW.

Spaz, the mods deleted it.
You cannot understand how angry I was.
All of 15 mins telling the watching a'fools how much of a sap I (and all other "foo fans") were.
To Keith's eternal credit he pretty much fessed up and apologised unreservedly.
I then get the added delight of Blizz posting the Peter Poppof video, which has got me onto a whole new hobby of checking this guy out.

I regret somewhat the mentioning of AVSF (why give it the publicity), just feel that the thin end of the wedge is a real concept. However, it may be QUITE a while before anyone like Blizz waltzes on here to kick up such a stink, maybe the thin end will stay just that.

A touch of mild Serial Killer Cannibalism aside I concur entirly, A Complete Gentleman.
