I heard my first 200k vinyl system today

Wrong term not infected enlightened . Lol

Here is some thing I did not post. Besides the msb stack I have I have a lampi level 7 coming all tricked out. And a Pwd mkii with the direct stream upgrade kit coming for it. So if I go vinyl it's going to be a fire sale lol.

Guess which one wins?

John-I have to say that Myles recommended the 200 gram version of this to me and I bought it. It sounds great.

Side 2 is up now...... gorgeous!

Gary if this happens the new genesis speakers i want will be held back a bit hahahaha. Sorry man this stuff is good. And if i go this route i have to have the reel to reel too.

Then, when you eventually get the big Genesis, you will have more music to enjoy. No hurry....... a GREAT analog rig will be expensive, and then you need to start your album collection. This might be a good time to start :)

A couple of recent examples:

Kurt Vile's "Wakin' On A Pretty Daze" (2013)

Girls "Father, Son & Holy Ghost", (2011)

Both EXCELLENT and worthy of inclusion on this thread. I think that this thread is going to end up as Al's 200k vinyl collection (gear not included).

but.....contrary to Digital sources, a modest analog source plays miracles iMO!

Agreed.....and I'm witness every day to that fact!. :)

One doesn't need an uber expensive vinyl rig to enjoy the format. It's in the setup, maintenance and care of your media.

Just enjoy it......I do!

I expected to hear clicks , pops and a boatload of hiss . What i did hear was almost none of anything.

:D

That's what we've been saying only to have it fall on deaf ears Al. When the software is good, it is a lot quieter than specs would suggest. Quiet enough for it not to matter. :)

This may be true but as child having less than nothing and as an adult I want it all. And I also know this makes no sense
So the internal argument begins. Sanity will rule but it's always a fight to gain reality. I have not even made up my mind
And I am already putting a budget together hahaha . Myles system was very transparent and quickly showed all there was to show in every format and recording. As I write this I am using my hibino HDP r10 it's a DAP. With my jh Audio jh13 FP
CIEMS. Playing tea for the tiller-man. Being discerning more than ever. There is so much more to music reproduction
At this level . We must have some level of satisfaction in what we have. That is one of my faults as driving myself to have more goes hand in hand with never being satisfied . And I was getting close UNTIL today .
I forgot to say something about the analog I heard today never did it seem to hit the top of dynamic reproduction
Causing a lack of sound quality . Even with the pink Floyd when the mix became complex . One genre I did not get to hear
Was classical. My fault not Myles.

Jack wow are you correct . Without starting a digital analog war why are the digital people so deaf in not understanding the truth.

Because like yourself they have not heard a good enough analog setup to know any better. Ignorance is bliss.;)

Digital truths and analogue truths are perceptions that are are based on preference.

A- vinyl//A+ music -- killer live band

I really like that Album. Harks back to the 4AD sound I grew up on. It's almost like a homecoming.

I think most digital audiophiles understand that with a good enough set up and excellent software, vinyl is more than quiet enough. Surface noise does not define the difference between digital and vinyl; if it did, there would be no good reason to prefer vinyl, as it is much more difficult and expensive to achieve low noise levels on vinyl compared to digital. Many things define the difference between vinyl and digital. Many things drive the preference for one or the other.

I think there is more to it than just the expense. There are people on this forum with 50k DACS , not me but people.
I think when you get to a point of spending that much money on a digital format , analog should have been considered .
As with me and my total ingnorence on vinyl I look at others as they should understood more than I when making choices.
One thought Myles said sticks out as he showed me the vinyl and reel to reel comparison. He remarked that his TT was good enough to approach the reel to reel. This makes the obvious choice of getting to a certain level of playback for vinyl
Play back a goal in mind. Now given we all do not have to spend as much as he did. If going down the road we must know just how good it can be.

Because it is such a beautiful sunny Spring Sunday in Seattle, the album of the day is the Grateful Dead's Sunshine Daydream. "The Dead" had a long, successful tour of Europe in 1972. Coming home, they played at a potluck picnic party on a Sunday in Veneta, OR (well, it was a Fall day, not Spring in 1972) in what turned out to be a mythical, spiritual event.

It was the band at its peak, featuring the classic lineup of: Jerry Garcia, Donna Jean Godchaux, Keith Godchaux, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh and Bob Weir. The show was filmed and recorded, but never released until now.... on a four LP box set.
This is 'live' rock recording at its best - the vocals have an astonishing clarity, and the atmosphere is palpable.

Only 5,000 copies were pressed on LP, and because there are millions of Deadheads out there, grab them before they are all gone.
