It is the third biting incident involving the talented but controversial striker.
Suarez was banned for seven matches by the Netherlands football federation in 2010 after biting PSV Eindhoven player Otman Bakkal in a league match when he played for Ajax.
After moving to Liverpool, he bit Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in 2013 and was banned for 10 games.
FIFA can sanction players with bans of up to two years if its disciplinary commission decides there is a case to answer.

Suarez is gone and so are any hopes (IMO) of Uruguay going further.

Additionally......The USA-GER game may be postponed due to heavy rains and flooding in the city of Retife. FIFA will rule on this just prior to game start.

For a first offense perhaps, but he's done this twice before. I think it's fair.

I also think Germany will beat the USA. The US are a good team not a great team. Their passing lacks sharpness, accuracy. It is as if they choose one side of the field and stick to it. No field reversal. You can just gang on one side with the US... Beating them won't be easy though ...

Completely agree. To hope for a GHA-POR draw is much more realistic.

From what i saw, I think that the favourites to win this WC are in order:

1 - Holland
2 - Germany
3 - Brasil (Only because of Neymar)
4 - Argentina (Only because of Messi)
5 - France
6 - Chile

No one should have to play in the WC and fear that they will be bitten. Totally ridiculous. I would make part of the suspension be that he agree to HIV and hepatitis testing for the sake of the player he bit.

I think the ruling was ridiculous. Remember when Leonardo, a brazilian player, broke the bones of an american player's face, ON PURPOSE? He got canned for 4 games.
And I've seen FAR more violent plays in this WC, including stuff that could physically harm the other player, perhaps taking him off competitve football forever.
C'mon, a quick bite on the shoulder is nothing next to what some folks are doing.
Sure, he needs to be suspended, but I think the penalty was too severe. It's not like he bit the guy's ear off

I STRONGLY disagree. They took out England and Italy and Suarez was only getting better.

I could support a 1 to 2 year International ban, but he misses 9 Uruguay games and 13 Liverpool games? Why does Liverpool have to suffer more? This is crazy.
