I am actually thinking which among these two speakers which to get for myself. Actually, I would like to get the the Alexia V speakers but I am not too sure if my room is big enough for them and that is why the Sasha V speakers would be the next option. Anyway, the dimensions of my room are L-18 Feet, W-15 feet and H-7 Feet. Given the dimensions of my room, which among the Sasha V or Alexia V speakers would you suggest that I get?
Thanks in advance.

PS. Also, For those of you out there who have heard or listened to both oof these speakers, how much better are the Alexia Vs than the Sasha Vs?
Thanks.

A while back I had the original Sasha, the original Alexia and the Alexia 2. My room is L-20', W-15' 7", H-7' 7", so slightly larger. The Alexias worked fine and I was told by Wilson that the Alex V would also work. If you have them set up by Wilson, or use their set-up method, the Alexia could work well for you.

The Alexia V is an outstanding speaker system. Sensitive, balanced, lots of air, dynamics and immediacy to die for. Tested with lots of sources, amplification and cartridges. Clearly a class above the earlier Sasha models I am familiar with and my own WP7. Alexia V, is a model that I can live with and enjoy the music material I listen to (Jazz, blues, rock, ethnic, new age). The speakers have been tested with Ypsilon Phaethon integrated amplifier, CJ, and Accuphase. All produced fabulous sound with them. Currently, the speakers are powered by an Accuphase A-80 Class A amplifier. The A-80 is an excellent match and worth an audition with both together. Maybe a nearby Accuphase dealer can lend you one. If not, let me know.
Regarding the space, it should be OK. The ceiling height is my only concern, but use of some light treatment should compensate for potential shortcomings. However, my expertise in room treatment is a little thin and I go by trial and error. Therefore, some research on the matter is recommended. In my specific experience, the distance from the back wall was also critical, with a minimum of 4 ft required for optimal performance.

Finally, I was blown away by the Alexia when we connected a refurbished Studer R2R. Truly live. The speakers have my vote of confidence.

Good luck, Basile

I have Alexia Vs in a 15x20x10 room and they work great.

On Lee's recommendation I just purchased a set of Sasha Vs. They're still breaking in but I like them already, especially the setup. My dealer ended up with the Sashas 5 feet from the front wall, way more than Wilson typically recommends. In fact, thee dealer tried them closer to the front wall but the optimal spot was almost exactly where the Hansens were. That's the spot that Lee and renowned speaker setup guy Jim Smith found for the Hansens after many hours of experimentation. Lee's Alexia Vs are also further from the front wall than the typical Wilson install.

To my ears (and I know YMMV) when I heard them in a local store setup pretty close to the front wall I didn't think they imaged all that well. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't understand how they can have very much depth 12 inches from the front wall. 5 feet from the wall in my room gives them plenty of depth.522369049_31607982208801119_8141398425744906042_n.jpg

Beautiful room! How big is your room, and is the 5 feet measured from the baffle or from back of the speaker? Are you sitting in an equilateral triangle ? Regards.

Thank you. The room is 16x21x9. I wish the ceiling was higher but that's basements unless you build from scratch. It took 2+ years to find a house that worked for us. I know the guitars on the wall and the framed memorabilia is not optimal for sound but I wanted a room I enjoyed sitting in.

I just measured the setup. The speakers are 88" from the front wall and I sit about 100" away from them. A great deal of time, probably 12+ hrs was spent on setting up my original speakers (Hansen Prince) to minimize room modes. Jim Smith is an expert at that. My Wilson dealer, Ember Audio of Winston-Salem, NC started out with the standard Wilson set up where the speakers were much further away from me and closer to the front wall (standard Wilson). He kept moving them in a precise grid until they locked in. The final position is within 3" of where the Hansens were. They image much better than when I demo'd them. They were probably 18" from the front wall and much further apart. That was a much better room than mine but I felt there wasn't much depth. Everyone's tastes are a little different but this works for me.

A couple of more (earlier) pictures of the room with the Hansens.519626871_10235952591622544_6210110328527539650_n.jpg449599636_10231054824141418_2763736252805203325_n.jpg
