.....nothing quite does it for me than to put on Tubular Bells and immerse myself in this masterpiece. It is absolute genius! Beethoven, Bach, Grieg, Handel, Mozart and others would surely recognize it's brilliance as well! :D

if i'm wanting to be swept away with music.....where it empties my mind and transports me....

a few that come to mind.

'The Who', Tommy, "Underture", or maybe Peter Frampton's 'live', "Do You Feel Like I Do?", or Clapton's "Cocaine" from 'Just One Night'.

all three have a pulse and drive that propels me forward....

all vinyl and all at warp 9.

This is essentially why I invested the big bucks. Music as late night meditation. Accordingly, what I listen to in this state of mind is Indian raga (Hariprasad Chaurasia is my hero), pretty much all of Anuoar Brahem, and late Beethoven string quartets. Some occasional Keith Jarrett (Koln Concert).

I love Anour Brahem. What's a good Hariprasad Chaurasia album to check out?

My goto album is an obscure, old "live in Stuttgart '88 album" but this is because I have owned it for almost 30 years and it is burned into my brain. I would start with "Shiktar" for a fine album, representative,of his playing. If you like it, explore more. if not, move on.

To get a taste of his playing in a less traditional setting, get a copy of "Shakti", "Rememeber Shakti", featuring chaurasia. It has john McLaughlin on guitar. The song "lotus feet" on this album, is one of the prettiest melodies I ever heard. Enjoy, and let me know if you like it.

I saw him in concert back in late 70s. There wasn't much demand for tickets, so he let us see him the next night for free.

He put virgin records on the map. Without this album, the Branson empire may have never existed.

Absolutely. Branson was running a small record shop at the time.Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
