I have Windows 10 and am looking for the best free download media player. Any suggestions?

Spend a little money.

on what?

depends on the source of your media. meaning do you use a laptop? a desktop? (Windows 10 would be on one of those).

maybe tell us how and where your media comes from?

you might be able to plug in a sound card that might step things up. the player itself will reside on your CPU, but the output quality will be variable according to the quality. and then the most cost effective dac to output to.

you would need to research what choices you might (for your device) have to step up the quality for any of those. and likely WBF is not your best resource. more likely 'Computer Audio' is where i would ask that.

Has anyone tried any of these?these?

I was hoping to extract the most out of music available across my computer. Mostly from You tube and Tidal. Pussibly MQA.
I use Lenovao Yoga Windows 10 across iFi hip dac. It came to my attention that a different media player may help

Tidal will be less tricky than Youtube on the laptop since it has a built in player. Routing Youtube and all other Windows audio to the DAC on a laptop is best left until you have a better idea what your are doing.

Short and sweet answer is download Foobar then follow this guide so you can listen to DSD. Hi-res Flac+WAV will just play once you set foobar to use the iFi driver.

Tougher to figure out but still free, Audacity. Which will still require the iFi driver be installed.

If you get tired of muddling about in the free pile we can talk about why your laptop will continue to hold back SQ.

Android will require the OTG came that came with your hip DAC and is worth the $7.99 for USB Player Pro if you use your phone for listening.
