My son is reading this for his high school English class. He liked it but found it brutal.



I just gobbled this one - it is a fast and easy read. An amusing and compassionate view of humanity:

I'm a huge fan of Le Guin, both fiction and non-fiction. I thought with her passing her output would stop, this is a nice surprise. I walked past the anthropology building named after her father nearly every day as an undergraduate - yet another reason for affinity!

"The Girl Who Took an Eye for an Eye" by David Lagercrantz. From my public library via my Amazon Kindle. Kindle is an awesome device that helped me through Covid when my library was closed. Now I don't go back there anymore. All the books were yellowed and aged and I had browsed the shelves too many times. The library was not conveniently located so both gas and time are saved by using the Kindle.

I am currently reading "Myths, Dreams and Mysteries" by the renowned Romanian historian of religion, Mircea Eliade. Truly an insightful read, delving into the specifics and mechanisms of spiritual life from the beginning of history, and the role of dreams as a driving motor for the development of spirituality.

I agree with Meyer on the fine-tuning of the laws of nature, but he is plain wrong on Intelligent Design vs. evolution and the origin of life by natural causes.

The scientific evidence is strong that biological evolution and the origin of life occurred strictly by the laws of nature. Where these exquisitely fine-tuned laws came from is another matter.
