ill Evans Trio - Haunted Heart: The Legendary Riverside Studio Recordings Remastered

"2CD - New collection showcasing the genius of the pianist’ “classic” trio with their complete studio output—including 1960’s portrait in jazz, 1961’s explorations, and a trove of previously unreleased recordings.

In 1959, trailblazing pianist Bill Evans assembled one of the greatest trios in jazz history, thanks to the intuitive artistry of bassist Scott LaFaro and drummer Paul Motian. Over the next year and a half, they would establish a groundbreaking and highly influential improvisational style that challenged the status quo and shifted the genre’s landscape. While their time together was heartbreakingly brief, they left behind two live albums and two seminal studio albums that continue to inspire musicians to this day.

Haunted Heart: The Legendary Riverside Studio Recordings brings together the complete studio recordings by the Bill Evans Trio featuring Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian. Included are the albums Portrait in Jazz and Explorations, plus 26 alternate takes - 17 previously unreleased. The collection includes rare photos, introduction by John Densmore (The Doors), and new liner notes by Eugene Holley Jr. and audio is newly remastered by Paul Blakemore, with lacquers cut for the vinyl edition by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio."©

Anthony Moore, AKA & Friends - On Beacon Hill

1763639354_ki67n8cu33ytb_600.jpg

Musician Anthony Moore, known for his work in avant-pop, art rock, and experimental sound, has released the album On Beacon Hill in collaboration with the Hastings collective AKA & Friends. AKA & Friends, drawing inspiration from the sea, sky, and folklore, create music that is both grounded and otherworldly. The group, utilizing guitar, piano, organ, synth, voice, trombone, double bass, and violin, reinterprets Moore’s songs spanning six decades. The album's chamber-folk arrangements feature a loose approach to rhythm, emphasizing melody and atmosphere. The resulting music is described as intimate and surreal, a mix of gothic lounge and spectral chamber orchestra. Moore's weathered yet commanding voice is likened to the gravity of the late Johnny Cash while maintaining its own dreamlike quality. On Beacon Hill serves as both reflection and renewal, symbolizing a journey from memory and darkness toward a fragile new light.
