This piece works amazingly well on the piano. He plays the Variations in F minor very well, too. Excellent sound. (It's not an original BIS recording: they licensed it from the Mandala label and remastered it.)

After months of waiting with bated breath, this set is out today and it’s quality more than justifies the wait. Great sound, great performances, great music.

Commanding performances even if they don't completely displace Heifetz. Superb sound.

It's not even 2-channel SACD as far as I know--I bought a 24/48 FLAC version. Not sure why it's not 24/96, but none of the normal hi-res sites offer it that resolution. Still, it sounds very good.

which is your favorite quartet to play Haydn's work? Lindays, Endellion, London Hayden, Takacs, etc? Thanks for any thoughts on this! I like Apponyi Quartet's Haydn 33 the most, but the quartet did not do any others of Haydn many quartets.

I think the Lindsays overall. Beautifully played and recorded. I haven't heard any of their Haydn recordings, but I assume the Quartetto Italiano would be equally good. I need to correct that omission! :)
