Yesterday i listen in Audiograffiti,Italian distributor of Spectral since 1983,the full top Spectral with

TT Basis work of Art
CD 4000 SV
PRE 30 SV
AMP 500 REFERENCE,only 20 pair built and the only pair in Europe
Speaker Avalon/Spectral Aurora,made in Avalon with K. Johnson with Diamond tweeter,around 80K
Cable Spectral/Mit and power cable Goble

I like Spectral because i like sound on little light sound, even if some Spectral amp or pre i listen are little light on mid bass, but this system both with Basis and with 4000 SV was neutral with a good bass and mid bass.

Transparent but with body, powerful but delicate and refined, big scene, really a very good system, also i never listen Avalon speaker sound better than this in other setup

We tried also the top Rockna dac with transport but sound was little hard and little unnatural, while with 4000 sv was much better and natural

Nice. Wait till you hear it with much better speakers. They've built many more than 20 pairs of the 500AR amps, the local dealer alone has sold over 20 in this area. Rumor has it there was an initial run of some 25 pairs and then decided to do another 25.

I’ve gone back to CDs after fondling with streaming. Missed them so much. I would love that CD player but may be second hand used or exdemo in 20 years from now.

What did the dealer use as the phono preamp? I do like the Avalon speakers. I would like to hear them in the US.

I wonder if that was 20 x 240/230 V versions for the 500AR.

And i will respectfully dissent on the "much better speakers"....

Am in rather focused contemplation/audition mode of this upgrade path - both amps and speaker.

I heard a couple of weeks ago that there may still be left a pair or two at the factory that are not spoken for; not sure of the voltage.

PS: Haven't heard your Indras; the local dealer has had the Auroras for some 6 months now.

@ack have you heard the Auroras at Goodwin's? Specially on a full Spectral System?

I'm curious about this new Precision Monitor line of speakers from Avalon.
