Top Risk of Stroke for Normal-Weight Adults: Getting Under 6 Hours of Sleep
ScienceDaily (June 11, 2012) — Habitually sleeping less than six hours a night significantly increases the risk of stroke symptoms among middle-age to older adults who are of normal weight and at low risk for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), according to a study of 5,666 people followed for up to three years.

I can think of my 35 years of doing Ob and being up nights with next to no sleep
 
It would be interesting to know more about the demographics and medical history, etc. of the different groups, as there could be confounding factors present.

H/w, s/w analysis on system/cluster outages had a similar sleep deprived pedigree. Course lives or someones health would not be at stake, just beaucoup $'s.

I'm dead meat because I sometimes skip a day without sleep. Otherwise, four or five hours covers it.
