SS Amp Performance Characteristics

Looks like this thread has deteriorated into a SET vs SS vs digital kerfuffle. Sad. Hope you put together a system that lets you enjoy your music.

SET maffia again lol.
Ok i ll help the best in amplification is solid state / FM acoustics. their higher balanced line up.

Relatively Cheap integrated SS amps have improved substantially in SQ .
My Hegel H590 has superb LS control and is very neutral the only amp ill switch it for is as said FMA

Its also very easy to use the SS integrated.

Some high end set ups look like a circus with all the cables / enhancers / bells and whistels.
One button to switch on the system and listen( incl remote control)

I played the A3cr again. I put a Fluke true RMS on the speaker outputs. I get .009 dc on right and 036 dc on left. Not sure what is tolerable.

Instead of getting anal, I just turned it on to a comfortable level and started my workout. It was nice. Every once in a while I would sit up and pay attention. It was a pleasant experience. Clean, full. Nothing unpleasant. My assumption was the volume was around 65 db with peaks in the very low 70s. Plenty of dynamics. Seemed to be a comfortable playback level. Fairly dynamic. Not the same level of natural and real as my tubes. Voices were nice. Instruments were good enough. There is a level of compressed and closed when compared to my tubes. But my tubes are wery natural, alive and realistic. Very fluid and free flowing. My baseline is very high. I am most likely just hearing what a $1400 new SS amp sounds like. Its not going to be a $20,000 tube amp. Especially a tube amp that wiped the floor on my Dartzeel on many levels. Not all. But enough I happily sold the Dartzeel to get the Blade.

Enhancers are not limited to SET. Show me an audiophile and I will show you filters, LPS, clocks, ground devices, emf voodoo eliminators and others Owe My God you have to have it or your stereo sucks.

And $100k in cables?

@andromedaaudio
Do you really cable up with close to a quarter million $$?

I like copper too. I sure wish I could find a unplated copper duplex.

I think there are good cables for say $10k complete system. Power to speaker and everything inbetween.

Its not the cables that make the diff. its the gear they design .
FM acoustics lets you hear the artists intent (in a way its priceless ) , i have never heard that before of audio gear.

Regarding wadax i was talking about the Akasha cable as i think the REF dac is quit a bit better then the Studio player .
FMA has their own LS cable connectors at the back of the power amp , so you have to buy their Force line LS cables as well ,

The only time I have heard Avantgarde with SS is their own amps or Itron and both sounded bad. The best I have heard Avantgarde sound is with SETs, either Thomas Mayer 211s or AudioPax M50s (I think that was the model) and recently the new Uno G3 with WestEnd Audio 300B amp. Marslo here on the WBF uses Ayon SET, first with his Duo Mezzo XD and now Trio XDs.

I demoed the Klipsch AL5 in Indiana a few years ago at a dealer and they were using a SET on it. I owned La Scalas back in the day and then I had SS amps on them but it wasn't a very good sound...just played loud, so good for

Really

There is a lot of the REALLY going on now. The Salemen are pitching their wares.

Brad is very much like that , best of best in his room at home , brands he represents…

When his guys do class D , it will be best of best over SET :)

All dealers will tell you they carry what they carry because its the best of the best.

DasguteOhr does a good job tossing out options that are very wide ranging in price.

You know nothing of what you speak. I don’t have a single pair of speaker lower than 97dB in the house.

Right. I know nothing of what I speak. Except that for example you also advocate SETs for Wilsons, here (#118):

And you also have used SETs on Apogees (#226 here);
