Does anyone know if Spectral have shut up shop? No replies to calls/voicemail...

Their website hasn't been updated in nearly 2 years.

My guess is they are open. Ack just received his new Spectral 4000SV CD player.
I suggest you reach out to an authorized dealer with any product or purchase queries.

I don’t have a local dealer and tried for weeks and can’t reply. Have they moved premises and failed to update their details?
I’m not the only one that’s been trying to reach them for weeks.

What’s with their website that’s out of date by 2 years?

What an abnormal way to do business.

I understand the frustration. I would look at other manufactures and not consider used amps. If you do not have a Spectral dealer you will not get support. Spectral is satisfied with how they run their business. The have small production runs and sell the products they manufacture.

I have a authorized dealer near me. Spectral offices are about 20 minutes from where I live. They still keep the same business model. No desire to grow their business.

I wonder if he bought Goodwin's demo as he mentioned a V2 version of the 4000SV coming soon on that thread.

I'd love to talk Spectral with him but, don't want to join another forum.

Inherent issues with a company run by a single individual with no strategy moving forward once that person is no longer active in the company. Same is true (I assume) for companies like Sanders, CAT, Dagastino, etc.

Absent service for future equipment failures, very expensive boat anchors. Caveat emptor.

The original owner still owns and runs Spectral (to my knowledge) As @dan31 mentioned, he has no desire to change or grow his business at this point.

But, yes @thedudeabides I agree, if the original owner has no successor or succession plan, then doesn't bode well.

Regardless of the manufacturer.

Why would anyone buy a used piece of Spectral gear on the open market?
I’m beginning to question why anyone would buy a new piece given they drop dealers and then of late seem to be completely uncommunicative. Nail in the coffin for me with Spectral. No customer care and support means zero sale. Time to move on. What a shame.

Not to mention the sound of it...Dry as a desert.

I have purchased several pieces of used Spectral gear over the last 3 years. A DMC12, DMC20 and 300RS. My DMC had a noise issue and my tech made a failed attempted fix. Spectral service graciously accepted the unit and made repairs and brought it back to spec. On a separate occasion My 300rs went into protection mode because I accidently crossed the speaker wires. Spectral Service took back the unit made repairs. My experience with them thus far from a service standpoint has been excellent. They took in both units. Diagnosed them. Sent me a repair quote and when I approved they made the repairs within 2 weeks. No problem with return shipping. Of course you must ship in original packaging and if you don't have it they will sell it to you. The repair costs were fair. Communicating with them was sometimes a slow process but my issues both occurred during covid times and in the middle of their move. My experiences have been quite good and I love the equipment. No complaints here.
