Nearly 7 years ago my Phonostage was the great

Boulder 2008 phono

and the amplifier for a pair of Wilson Audio MAXX 3 was the

Boulder 1060 stereoamp

During this years I was hard searching for a used

Boulder 2010 PreAmp

But unfortunately the market had no offer for me.

So I bought a new Koda Takumi K10 Pre instead and was very happy with this set up.

The Koda sonic balance was more warm with a nice energy bottom up, which balanced the Boulder gear quite well.

But the years are passing by and all of the gear was replaced.
Now a Koda Takumi MCone Phonostage, a Soulution 720 Pre, Avalon Osiris speakers, driven by Accustic Art mono amplifiers are the current set up.

Still, my search marks regarding a Boulder Preamp are still alive, so I was surprised, that a Boulder 2010 Preamp was tracked to be on offer.

Immediately I bought this PreAmp, as I was looking for such an offer in Europe for so long.

Yesterday I was able to install the new acquisition and was surprised, that the Soulution 720 was surpassed by ease, specially the power and control in the lower band was
extremely good. Compared to my small Boulder experience the Boulder 2010 plays a lot warmer and and with the energy from bottom up compared to my memories from the performance of 2008 and 1060 and compared to my beloved Soulution 720.

So I'm happy, that finally a Boulder preamp found its way into my personal set up.

Fantastic and great story about persistence! For me, that is a large large part of the system build...know what you want and relentlessly pursue it, even if it means you have to be resilient in your patience to wait for it to appear (demo, 2nd hand, etc)...and then dont hesitate: snap it up. I have always done this in 30 years and missed with the Arrakis 1 at the right price...I wanted it but hesitated...must be 20 years ago. The 2nd time it came around (the active version which requires 2 stereo or 2 sets of monos)...we just could not swing all the new amps, new ICs, new SCs and the underfloor cable riser space...to get that to work.

But when its right and you get it...magic. Congrats and enjoy. A big admirer of the all-out assault approach Boulder makes to its equipment.
