Question about Danley Sound Labs 50's or 60's

Tom, if this thread is still alive and you still happen to be monitoring it, may I ask if you have made any progress with the SM-60 home version with integrated LF section? I would be very, very interested in purchasing such a speaker. If you haven't then I am still equally interested in purchasing SM-60's and appropriate subwoofer's for a home media/music room.

Tom

Call this a bump. Search for a serious Horn speaker has conducted me to your design. Would like to see you post here again! I am reiterating avnutz query here!!!

84dB efficiency looks pretty challenging.

There are all sorts of speakers around where they are told to be 87-88-89 dB efficient but practically they are not.
In case of Danley we can be sure the spec is tight and not the marketing department dreamed it.

So I think there affordable amps around easily can handle this sensitivity. like Parasound for example. A 300B or a 2A3 triode amp probably will not be enough for more than very close near filed listening.

Unlike many other raw horn brands
and complete speaker system, like those from Earl Geddes
http://www.gedlee.com/Loudspeakers/NS15.aspx , why are there no polar plots for these horns?

They provide a GLL file for most of their not PA speakers, including the studio series, so you will have polar patterns as well and can use it in EASE. The provided GLL file stores polar data for multiple frequencies, both horizontally and vertically. These aren’t just static images; in EASE or EASE Focus applications, they’re interactive 3D polar plots.

This is the GLL file of the ILE3:

I've never heard of EASE software and hate think what its learning curve is like. But certainly these plots tell a lot about a horn's coverage pattern, and a whole lot easier. https://bcspeakers.com/uploads/products/graphs/2020_10_22_12_34_06_413_ME90_map_Vert.png

EASE is widely regarded as an industry-standard tool in the professional audio and acoustics community, particularly among acoustical consultants, sound engineers, and system integrators. EASE (Enhanced Acoustic Simulator for Engineers) is a professional software suite used primarily for acoustic modeling and simulation in the design and optimization of audio systems for various environments, such as auditoriums, concert halls, churches, stadiums, and other architectural spaces. It was first released in 1990 by Acoustic Design Ahnert (ADA), founded by Wolfgang Ahnert. It started as a full graphic MS-DOS-based CAD program for acoustical analysis, marking the beginning of its use in audio simulations. So it is not something new.
