putting tape in zip lock bags

Does anyone here with a reel to reel tape collection recommend putting the tapes in zip lock bags? Will they last longer in good condition?

Maybe for old tape that sheds and needs baking. Add a silica gel desicant bag to the baggy.

For new tape ? Like anything...it depends on the environment(cool/dry being best). I asked our resident expert here (Bruce) and he said not to bother.

Temp around 68 - 75, Humidity around 50%... Do not seal and keep vertical

FWIW, I recently bought two new old stock boxes of Scotch brand tape, I think 207. All was SSS, and every one was sealed not only in cellophane, but each tape was in a sealed cellophane baggie to boot. The water vapor gets right through, and gets to the tape regardless. I did find that by baking the tape for 24 hours, still in the baggie solved the SSS issue as well though.
