Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting on this forum. I am a filmmaker, not a sound professional, so my knowledge is quite limited. I am shooting a fiction doc on MiniDV and I'm looking for a way to record ambient sound in a way that mirrors the MiniDV look. In my research I've come across the Marantz PMD 430 for about $200. My first question is: does anybody own sound files recorded on this machine, or a similar one?
My second question is: is there a big difference between this machine and a smaller, less professional sound recorder (in terms of sound quality only)?

Last question: I'm interested in recording stereo sound with maybe an Audio-Technica BP4025, do I need any adapter to plug it in?

Thank you so much!

N.
