Well, just an hour ago, our family lost another sweet kitty of over 30 years! His name was Puzz and my grandmother got him as a kitten when I was only 14 years old! 14 years old and I am now 44! Yes, Puzz lived for over 30 healthy years! Though the last month or two, he declined rather quickly, especially in the last couple of weeks. Poor Baby Puzz. He will definitely be sorely missed by all.

About 7 or 8 years ago...

Chops, my Ra lost her three moggies a year ago. To be replaced by two total headcases. We send our condolences. Hugely impressed by a cat getting to 30. What a wise feline Puzz must have been.

30 is incredible, what a lifespan, our eldest went 21, yours looked very happy.. Sorry for your loss though, it's never easy.. But they are so worth it..

What a wonderful life you gave him! Thirty years is amazing. I'm sure you miss him a great deal.

Definitely a well cared for cat! I loved the heck out of my old cat Pongo but could only get about 16 years out of her. Not sure of her exact age because we got her as a young adult. In her final months she was emaciated just like Puzz. Vet said there was nothing to be done.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful warm words. It's much appreciated!

Puzz was a specially kitty, originally adopted by our grandmother (dad's mom) back in 1989 when I was still 14! Then when grand mom passed in 2007, we got him and his younger brother Blacky. Up to the point of us getting them, they were indoor/outdoor kitties, and grand mom lived out in the woods in north Florida. Once we got them, they were strictly indoor kitties, and they were fine with that. Blacky lived to be around 23 or 24 years old. That was about 3 years ago now that I think he passed. The two of them were always partners in crime.

Lots and lots of wonderful memories to last for years between those two babies.

Sorry for your loss. After 30 years I bet he was part of the house.

That is an impressive lifespan. If my cats live 30 years they will outlive me.

30 years?!?!? Unreal! What diet?

I know how I’d feel without my pet, and while I cannot say this is unexpected I’m sure it’s still hard not having your cat around. Sorry to hear of your loss.

For some reason I came to this thread four times already and could not finds what I really wanted to say. I guess it reminded me how happy I am to have a 15 year old mixed breed Beagle/Scitzu still with me ... and at the same time the inevitable.

Sorry to hear this.

I'm so sorry... and obviously highly impressed to hear such a great Age...really?
As One forumer said: "what diet"?
Until today I Heard some Cats that reached about 21-22 years maximum...
In any case when a Kitty pass away in a home Is a great sad loss...
My best
Marco

I'm sad to hear of your loss, but wow, 30 cat years is like 150 human years isn't it? That has to be some kind of record

So very very sorry.

Oh My !! how lucky you both were ... That’s amazing.. My condolences.. how it must hurt..
