Hello,

I recently purchased a NOS Ortofon AS-212. The AS-212 was designed for the SL-15 which was relatively high compliance cartridge.

I have had almost every cartridge that you could care to mention, it all began in 1962. Memory fades but the FR MC201 is still in my mind as the best of the lot. It was MFSL favorite cartridge too and would be my choice if it is compatible with my arm.

I have used different charts all with different answers and I don't know which is the correct answer and need a hand, will this cartridge be a good match for my As-212?

MC-201 Spec ~
Output voltage 1 kHz, 5 cm/sec: 0.16mV
Tracking force: 1.5 to 2.0 g
Coil impedance: 8 Ohms
Load impedance: 10 Ohms or higher
Stylus type: 0.3 x 2 mil line-contact solid diamond stylus
Weight: 7.5g +-0.3g

Cheers,

Still have MC201 somewhere in the shelf. Also had As -212.
IMO with 8-10 g headshell + FR MC201 + AS212 should be OK.
