It's a quite ridicolous list as the only pick out of what they've reviewed, which that in it's self is a potentially biased selection.
With 2 wins under its belt, why wasn't the AudioQuest DragonFly chosen? Perhaps winning Computer Product and Budget Product of the Year isn't sexy enough? I guess Stereophile is still not interested in promoting audio to the masses, and is instead still focused in on appeasing the 1%'ers.
On wat basis would they be able to award the prize to a product they have not reviewed?

Forget audio for the masses. If Budweiser commercials start popping up in Stereophile most here would cancel their subscription. Audiophilea is an elitist hobby for folks with too much discretionary budget and time on their hands. Get used to it.
Also, I think most 1%'ers are too busy trying to become 0.1% to have time for music / audiosystems. I would think the target market is the >1%-5% (i.e. 95-99 income percentile), which I suspect included the majority on this forum.

It is a Stereophile award, I find natural that they pick out what they have reviewed. And it is just the result of some type of internal voting according to their rules, nothing else.
We could have something similar in WBF - any member could vote in five components that were referred during 2012 in WBF![]()
Go ahead Micro, put it to a vote , the WBF top 10 audio component list of 2012 ...
Amplifier ...
Pre...
Speaker...

I think it should be left to an administrator. Perhaps having a new thread open for a week where any one could suggest five items in the same classes as Stereophile, to avoid debating what would be the classes ...
I already have my nominate to the speaker category.![]()
We should do it , a WBF list would be much more prestigious than Stereophile's or any of the other mags ,,,,,![]()
