New Katana Itokawa!

Wow, they come with white gloves:D
How much are they?
The packing crates are enough to make a statement, never mind anything else:D
There are 4 models in the line-up starting at around 7500$ pair, up to 17500$ pair. The one pictured are 16500$.

Never hoid of them. What is their claim to fame besides the white glove, pack job, and price tag?

The enclosure is a built like a complex maze, forming an exponential horn, complete with compression chamber and acoustical low pass on terminus section. What really matters is that the enclosure yields 12 dB of gain (enormous), one full octave below natural free air resonant frequency. This makes possible the use of drivers with stiff suspension for great midrange clarity and higher than usual crossover frequency. Previous versions have been amply reviewed.

How do they manage to do that?? 12DB??

Rob:)

A lot of R&D. I started working on horn loaded enclosures almost 40 years ago, so it grew on me a little. It's really a matter of designing proper geometry and using air pressure in the most "ecological" way - that is to extract the maximum effect from minimal motion. Strangely enough, the most efficient loading produce minimal cone motion, as cone motion is working "against" antiphase motion. The trick is in reversing everything at terminus to extract maximum gain.
Air coupling reduces natural free air resonance, then working expansion and 1/4 wave tuning. When everything is exactly line-up, maximum energy is created. Yes, 12 dB is a lot of gain.
