New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

When it became clear that no star free agent was willing to pair up with Leonard in Los Angeles, Leonard reportedly contacted George and persuaded him to demand a trade, which is a violation of the NBA’s tampering rules. It’s worth noting, not only because rules were broken, but that despite their existence — and in the wake of an impending investigation into league-wide tampering through this free agency period — the two star players still ended up with everything they wanted.

Remember when David Stern disallowed the trade of CP3 from New Orleans to the Lakers. I bet CP3 would have had a much different career outcome

Adam Silver is a pussy who won't rock the apple cart or his $10M contract and even if he could there will never be a way that the league enforces the tampering rules

from Adam Silver's mouth........

Commissioner Adam Silver’s postseason news conference at the Las Vegas Summer League addressed the rise of player empowerment. “I think what's best for the fan is a 30-team league that everyone has the opportunity to compete with a fair set of rules. I think to the extent that the balance of power is out of whack a little bit, we should address it.”

Out of whack a little bit? How bout outright rules violation and getting away with it. Once you start letting them loose on the traveling violations, players naturally will 'adopt' them as norm and outdo them even. Then they go to the next level which is getting their coaches fired when they don't like them, and target their favorite players who are inside a contract to bolt out and then play with them. Sounds familiar? Not surprisingly, these were done by only ONE man. And the rest of the players will naturally follow because the rules now has no teeth. Like a toothless Belgian Malinois, this Adam Silver.

And finally Yahoo tells it as it really is

Thank you Adam Silver

NBA can try to limit tampering and player movement, but it may be too late

Imagine that trend. Players proclaim a dream, a wish, and it all comes true. Shred the paperworks.

If Stern voided the trade of LA and NO then, and there was really no legal violations then even, but a subjective feeling that it is not a fair trade or balanced trade, then Silver should void all these moves that violate the tampering rules. But void a LeBron masterminded move??? Silver is a pussy all right. He's scared of popularity decline? How bout that, moving towards the WWF style of $$$ making schemes.

I read this and only one thing stood out other than the proverbial BS from the 2 stars and it was the last sentence of the article....

“They’ll give us a chance to do the only thing we want to do,” he said. “We’re only here for one reason.”

So if it doesn't work out you can bet they'll be moving on in 2 years when they can sign super max contracts although if things do work out, Ballmer would be smart to renegotiate their contracts in order to hang onto them

KL and PG say they are out to rebrand basketball by showing what defense can be. Both are committed to bringing back the lost art of two way play, George say. Damn. I am now officially a Clips fan. I have always loved clean but mean blue collar teams and if the Clips can set a new standard for this, it is going to be FUN to watch them smother anyone they face.

Do you remember the Pistons in their glory days. About as blue collar and mean as any I have seen

Well hopefully the face of the NBA will change soon. Of course Jeannie will retire his number as a Laker of course

LeBron wants to be like Mike. He will certainly achieve it in money and perhaps in Space Jam2 but hopefully he’ll never own a team like Mike

A team owned by leBron and players all from Rich Paul unless of course Rich Paul is the coimissioner by then
:eek::oops::rolleyes:

Congruous to what he is doing now in the entertainment industry. Gather all the $$$ and buy a team. It would be better for him to buy the Cavs if he wants to follow Jordan who bought a team in his homeland.
But then he would "only be as good" as MJ but the (self declared) King has to be better than MJ and therefore be the only legitimate GOAT :p

LeBron may follow an alternative path as Michael Jordan hasn't done so well with his team in Charlotte. ;)
Exactly

More and more it gets irritating to hear those words 'play with'. Players signed contracts to play FOR the team that pays them, not for the players to choose whom or where they want to play after the contract is signed. First we had to bear with changes like Euro step, then bigs shooting 3s, then all 5 players shooting 3s, then now players hinting it will be more fun in another city while still under contract with his present team, then players wanting to play with whom they fancy. It is getting to be a big joke, these things.
Very unfortunately so

Ryan West, Jerry's son, has worked for the Lakers for 10 years. Woj just reported that he is leaving the Lakers.

No word as to where he is going or whether he resigned or was fired.

The owners are discussing it but does anyone really think the league will get tough with tampering

From ESPN......

Inside a tense NBA owners meeting that might change free agency

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27243621/inside-tense-nba-owners-meeting-change-free-agency

Tampering, and pretty soon every superstar will be claiming 'load management'. Like $40m a year salary and you play only 80% of the 82 games but still it's not like your violating any league rules. Oh, but Stern fined the Spurs for 'resting' Duncan on a back to back sortie, claiming the fans were robbed. Silver apparently doesn't think 20 games 'rest' is depriving the fans of anything.

Wasn’t the first bit of player tampering cane when The King took his talents to South Beach with Bosch following.

The only deal I remember nixed by the league was CP3 going to the Lakers and that was because the team wasn’t solvent and Stern has final say over any team trades so in effect Stern was not acting on behalf of the NVA but rather the team

The latter champs with Billups, Hamilton, Prince and the Wallaces I really admired even if Teyshaun caused Reggie's retirement after that chase down of his LOL, the Bad Boys were great but just too dirty for my tastes :D
