I've owned identical pairs Ascent II's in Nextel finish--yes the Ascents had external tri-wired Xovers--Charles Hansen's masterwork!

Changed my pre/amp setup - currently running the Avalons with a Cello Palette / Halcro amp - nice sounding!

The Lame is a more organic, deep and engaging amplifier, the Halcro is very revealing, less distorted and also quite organic in the current stage mode. Both mated pretty well with the Avalons.
