I found Volker Lange more than a decade ago online when he was running a company in Eastern Europe called Lutz Precision which manufacturers high precision equipment not related to tape or high fidelity. He is a hifi and tape fan. The first tapes that he issued were under the Lutz Precision label. I bought a few of their classical tapes which are no longer sold, as well as a set of Oscar Peterson albums (6 albums with 12 reels) that are being sold. Volker renamed the tape company Horch House and they started licensing several classical albums from DGG and Eterna as well as one Columbia album. I bought most of the classical titles over the years. Lange started a project to manufacture a new tape recorder, modeled after a Revox machine but that never came to fruition. However, in late 2024, Revox bought Horch House and they have released a new version of the Revox B77 Mark III machine as well as accelerating their release of prerecorded tapes, expanding, with classical and jazz and rock/pop all licensed from different labels. Volker leads this effort and has joined the Revox board. They also are now releasing their tapes at different price points, all 15ips, 2 track. The highest priced releases are Studio Master on RTM SM900 1.5mil tape recorded at 510 nW/m on metal reels with Stil plastic cases and elaborate glossy photos in boxes. Typically an album requires two reels. Not too different from Tape Project or Acoustic Sounds. The mid price tapes are Standard Master on RTM LPR90 1 mil tape recorded at 320 nW/m with the same packaging - but typically requiring only one metal reel. The lowest price Pure Master also uses RTM LPR90 tape record at 320 nW/m, but on a plastic trident reel. Horch House has Vienna based mastering engineer Christopher Stickel doing some remastering in the analogue domain on their tapes. Over the years I have purchased 75 reels from Horch House/Revox. They have added Triton Tapes to their offerings and I have included on the last row of tapes one of the Triton tapes (Satie Inities) which I bought prior to Horch House adding Triton. Horch House/Revox has some sales where they discount the prices of a selection of their tapes. The very last row of tapes has my latest purchases which arrived a couple of days ago (titles on the spline are in black on the red cases which I bought from their current (as of late November, 2025) sale.
