The movie industry over the past few years IMO has deteriorated to nothing more than action packed movies with constant stunts as well as virtually every comic book superhero in movies filled with CGI's. As you all know I am not a fan of super hero movies, 3D or anything of that ilk. Typically by this time of year there would be some movies worthy of Oscar contention but so far this year the only half decent movie I have seen has been Sicario ll but far from Oscar contention.
Hi Steve,
Though I appreciate Christopher Nolan is regarded by many as a director par excellence, if you want to find a film that is largely responsible for lending credibility and also, profitability to the idea of the super-hero film as the defining genre of the 2000’s and beyond, it all began with The Dark Knight. While other films, notably Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films achieved critical and commercial success, TDK was the first super-hero film to gross over a billion dollars, while bringing a darker, more cynical tone aesthetically and emotionally, and finding purchase amongst Oscar voters (eight nominations, the highest ever for a film based on a comic book).
While the Nolan-isation of cinema is often regarded as a good thing for bringing about the “intelligent blockbuster”, to me Nolan’s repackaging of a series of hokey, implausible Tim Burton films in Nolan’s Batman trilogy, and the retelling of a film widely regarded to be a cinematic masterpiece (Kubrick's 2001) Nolan turned into a hokey, implausible Spielberg film (Interstellar) has left us with a deficit of originality in which technique and execution have largely replaced character and story, especially when there's a lot of money to be made.
Again, just my take on things.
Be well!

that's from ten and half+ years ago. In ten years most people evolve.

* i have read more reviews, and comments about this film.
They are all rating it on average between four and five stars (out of five).
Quite impressive, and some say that it ranks among the best three this year.
And we don't see this too often:

..lol
Intersteller was a masterpiece. Also is was not implausible, as Nolan partnered with one of the greatest Astrophysicists of our time (Kip Thorne) to write the script. He famously got Nolan to agree that the laws of physics were always obeyed. Physicists agree that Gargantuan is the most realistic deception of a black hole ever shown on screen.
You can read more about Kip Thorne here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kip_Thorne
Here's a book he wrote regarding the science behind the movie: https://www.amazon.com/Science-Inte...=8-1&keywords=the+science+behind+interstellar

It’s a front projection system. Were you watching the screen?
