Mattress

Yet another +1 for the Tempurpedic. As a matter of fact I have them in both vacation homes as well. I used to suffer chronic back aches and regular bouts of stiff necks. It became a thing of the past.

P.S.

Sex IS better on springs.

+1 for Stearns and Foster. Though the best mattress i have ever slept on was...get this...in Africa on safari. They had hand stuff a mattress using horse hair, and i am telling you...support, support, support, and incredible comfort.

I prefer mattresses stuffed with a mixture of camel hair and horse hair. If you just have a camel hair, the mattresses tend to have humps in the middle that ride into your back. But if you use horse hair that came from an old swayback horse, it blends perfectly with the camel hair and the dips and humps cancel each other out.

I have been using duxiana beds for a long long time. I enjoy sleeping on them so much I bought three of them and put one each in the rooms that I sleep in.

They look great and there is a store in Buckhead (Atlanta). Which model do you prefer?

You need serious help! You have gotten way too involved in audio!! (But I just ordered one :p)

Hah! I am sorry...but not having a flat mattress...but in fact two equally uneven surfaces within the the mattress does not provide a linear sleeping surface. You end up finding when you sleep there is a 'veil' during your REM sleep...and you are not as rested when you get up in the morning! Instead of just enjoying the sleep...you end up waking up, fidgeting with the mattress, readjusting the pillow, etc...I had to put weights on the corners of the mattress to keep it flatter, more linear...:)!

However, if you put the entire mattress on an isolation platform...the silence, you can sleep thru anything! Even heavy traffic, ambient noise...amazing! But the isolation platform has to be made according to your weight.

To end this thread, we ended up getting a Tempurpedic. The concerns that were raised about them being too warm have been addressed by Tempurpedic as some kind of cooling layers have been added that made a HUGE difference. We also got an adjustable platform. By orders of magnitude, this is the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on and my wife feels the same.

And whoever made the comment that having sex was more difficult on a foam mattress -- you must be doing it wrong :D :D :D

which Tempurpedic model did you ended up getting, we are looking at mattresses too.

The Cloud Supreme Breeze. The "Breeze" part is the cooling function. This particular bed model (with the cooling function) was just released about 3 or 4 weeks ago.

As an FYI, we first purchased the Sealy Memory Foam Mattress as we were trying to save a few dollars. NOT EVEN CLOSE to the Tempurpedic. We could not not use the outer 15 inches of the bed on either side as there was no support. If you were on the outside and tried to move to the center of the bed, you literally had to roll uphill to do so. After trying to "get accustomed" to the bed for 4 weeks, we gave up and exchanged it for the Tempurpedic.

The only bad news on the Tempurpedic is that it is sooooo comfortable, it is hard to get out of the bed in the morning. Truly an amazing bed.

Ive heard that the best latex mattress around will generally be hypoallergenic and anti bacterial so they're a little more sensitive than a memory foam mattress. Both better than sleeping on the floor though :D
