Ian,

RCA 5R4GY 274B Double Getter Mil-Spec Rectifier Tube, Tested #2

You are bidding on a single RCA 5R4GY double getter Mil-Spec rectifier tube.

This tube was made during WWII.

Not to be confused with the later JAN RCA version of this tube. These are the first production World War II type, with the double D bottom getters set an angles to each other in the bottom of each tube, long dull black plates, extra support rods, very dark brown base and circular top mica. This tube will rival if not outperform the famed 274B Western Electric, and they are just as scarce. All have the early type dark brown micanol base with the military markings.

This was tested on my calibrated Hickok 539C. It has been tested for shorts and gas. The tube tests very strong with readings of 56/58 Minimum is 40.

It has also been tested in the power supply of my DIY pre-amp and is dead quiet.

All tubes are tested on my calibrated TV-7/B or on my calibrated Hickok 539C. All of these tubes have been tested for transconductance, shorts, gas, leakage and life. All tubes meet or exceed manufacturer published specifications of transconductance (Gm) for the specified tube type. All tests are tested twice - prior to the listing and prior to shipping.

Please note: The numbers given for gm are what I see on my TV-7/B or Hickok 539C. I DO NOT guarantee that you will see those numbers on your tester. I only guarantee that these tubes will test good, with no shorts, or gas, on a decent calibrated tester.

Oh get it, then I have tube of course.

Without confusing Ian too much, the EML mesh 45 is a good recti to have. It is also the default for GG

Nah, 45 triodes are DHT output tubes. The tube rectis are single 5volt tubes …the single tube up front. 5y3,5v4,5u4,54r,5r4,gz34 and 37,U52,274b,type 80 and 83v, 5z4,422a, 5c3, etc.

Floyd, one crucial point to make regarding bass performance: a fine single malt scotch can boost it considerably. Psychoacoustics.....the final frontier and the most important tweak....

I can't disagree!

Does it help with Tinnitus?

I have one audio friend who actually claims that it does....lol
its true as long as the SPL of the music is higher than the tinnitus

Isn't tinnitus caused by too much Tin in the solder admixture? :)

Exactly. I have a bit in my left ear, and piano aggravates it, violins soothe it, and rock hides it. :)

Floyd, I think I need to be a little more precise to help your cause. You need to discern which single malts are synergistic with your auditory needs. Certain ones will emphasis certain parts of the auditory band than others. Some are dark and heavy and bring out the bottom resisters. Others are light and ephemeral and will embellish or soften the upper frequencies. Still others can be sweet and more midrange dense. You may have to alter your choice based on your music selections. You will also have to carefully titrate the quantity of said malt to find the sweet spot.

A lot of my family hails from Scotland (including the Shetlands). One of my uncles has a retirement home near Oban which produces one of the better single malts: http://www.plummarket.com/home/oban...nlKmEbLsU9yZo1RgDd5brQoBc7DMDzgOkNRoCOdzw_wcB

I think there is a good chance that selection could fix your dac....;)
