Lampizator Genya

I'm glad to hear that the line will be extended. I wasn't in the position at the time to get one of the original 50, but now I will have a chance. Great news!!!

Lampi must be doing something right (too right in fact, to be getting all this nit-picking over nothing...). I can't help it, but it kinda reminds me of the tourist who sued his travel agents' for breach of contract because they arranged for an upgraded room at no extra cost...
Hmm not sure any lawyer would think a marketing change from limited to unlimited would be considered the same as an upgraded room at no cost but anyway what we as great customers of the Lampi brand should be doing is helping Lukasz avoid all this nonsense when there are potential missteps. That’s what people with great relationships with brands do and a few of us have done with Ferrari and other brands etc over the years and it’s received positively. It helps management etc avoid time and cost in jurisdictions where consumer laws may be different to what they have previously experienced, Particularly now Lampi is the Ferrari of dacs etc and these issues can be magnified with top brands.
In any case, if you haven’t seen it, great review of the Genya by Koji at CMA. Looking forward to that Aphrodite release.

Who was this reviewer's audience ?

I guess the bright lights must have been bothersome for him as those sun glasses .......

I love Lampi and have owned 5 of them. TBH I had to turn it off mid way through. Glad you enjoyed it . Wish I could comment more but...maybe it's just me but.....o_O

Im sure Im going to hear from all you Ferrari owners

He has sight issues Steve hence he has medical glasses but as common in that position he has extremely good hearing from what I have experienced.
You are unlikely the audience for this. It’s a younger up and coming crowd that will take over when you and me are no longer here. That increases the Lampi TAM and the number of buyers Koji has introduced is substantial particularly at the entry level dacs who hopefully then graduate to the flagship as they get older. Really good asset for Lampi and helps Lukasz make money at these levels to pile R&D into the flagships we can benefit from. Think everyone wins if we all keep an open mind here as great businesses do!

Understood about the sight issues but still somewhat over the top for me
Just me I guess. It’s not the type of review I’m used to seeing. So my apologies

All good Steve and I had the same instinct when I first saw it but I did a bit more work as a few people I know said how relatable some of it was and i learnt more about him and I think he provides strong benefits to different parts of the audiophile ecosystem that you and I traditionally wouldn’t lean into. I like seeing the youngsters (normally 40 and below) tap in to this to keep it growing and Koji really does seem to tap into them. Personally I look at a huge range of reviews just for different perspectives. I particularly like yours actually and the comments etc as gives me the dialed down nuance I really like but for youngsters that’s not always what they want it seems. I do see quite a few tap into WBF so there may be a segment that leans into it if we can give some flex here to see?

What a bad take Steve,

I mean you’re batting 1000 lately.

Koji is a very popular reviewer.

He has interviewed Lucasz himself, and to be so insensitive as to take a shot at the sunglasses or his audience is just unnecessary.

Anyone who helps spread the audio bug that we all have, is to be protected and lifted up.

Ushering in the new audiophiles to this hobby is a very important part.

Many of us got started by listening with our parents or relatives, but now a days the younger generations learn mainly from the internet.

Instead of divisive language perhaps something more inclusionary would be more appropriate because you don’t buy a Horizon 360 or Aphrodite when you first get into the hobby, even if you can afford them. You would probably start with a Genya or Poseidon and work your way up, or if you have a more limited budget you start where ever you can. Then you listen to people like Koji who showcase what’s possible and start to plan your upgrade path, and slowly graduate to the Flagship Class.

Regardless we should be welcoming to anyone who takes interest in our coveted hobby since it’s becoming more and more niche. If we expect there to be super flagship gear we need to continue to foster in the youth.

Just my 2¢

As I said previously I have never heard of him and the need for the glasses was explained and I apologized. You need to take a deep breath as there was no divisive language intended. I too started with my parents listening to classical music on a radio. every weekend and my bet is Ive been in this hobbby longer than you are old so lets take a deep breath

Steve, the way you're talking to people on this forum recently is appalling.

The fact you've been in the hobby a long time is totally irrelevant to the point being made, and the rude way you're expressing yourself to other members is really uncalled for.

You've also violated your own Terms of Service in the Aphrodite thread with personal attacks on another user with disgusting language that's totally unnecessary and very crude. I feel like if anyone other than the site administrator was making such comments using such language to a fellow user their comments would disappear, or action taken.

Surely a site admin on a forum about high-end audio can reach for higher standards than this:

Hi walterboss, why not also chastise the recipient of those words? Because he thoroughly earned them, for the first time in an audio forum reading the other member´s posts made me angry to put it mildly and I was glad Steve wrote that reply which minus the cereal part was absolutely on point.

Indeed, can we please stop beating the horse? It was a review of the Genya, which many folks are interested in. I will be spending a weekend with a Genya at the Toronto AudioFest and will post my impressions and comparison to my fully tricked out Pacific 2 although that is in my home system. Still, a data point for those interested... cheers. If anyone will be in Toronto and wants to hear a Genya DAC, along with Troy Crowe's BIG horns with 18 inch woofer, and the latest prototype version of the all DHT preamp and 300b monos that Lynn Olson and I designed...all in one system, would love to chat with anyone who comes by. I think it will be a really fun room to listen to.

Forgot... Troy Crowe tells me we will be in Room 345 at Toronto Audiofest. It is Friday-Sun Oct. 17-19. Hope to chat with a few of the WBAF folks! We have music on a drive as backup of course, but hotel wifi, and a cell modem, so we should have internet. Unlike some rooms, I will always play people whatever they want to hear if it's on Tidal and the internet is working (and the room isn't packed)! I believe you should audition systems with music you are familiar with:)

The Genya Plus is my first Lampizator DAC, and I wasn't sure what to expect. After the first few hours of use, it was already clear I was in for something special. I can only say that everything that's already been written about is what I'm hearing. The ability to create almost holograms of voices is a truly thrilling experience, along with the clarity. Does anyone have the Plus?

Glad you are enjoying it. I am pondering between the two versions. Lukasz stated it was only a small difference between the two which makes me hesitant. Looking forward to hearing more feedback.

I understand you, you should have both to make a concrete decision. I too was under pressure when I had to decide between the Plus or not, then I thought about the better capacitors and the circuitry for the ECC182 and I opted for the Plus. I never know if I could have saved money, but this DAC sounds really very good.

Hello everybody, I wanted to give you heads up concerning the additional perk in the Genya product: the possibility to use Directly Heater rectifier, same as in the Horizon. (like 274B, 5U4G, 5R4WGBA, 5Y3, 5C3S etc. These elevate the sound even further.
Unfortunately the big rectifiers don't fit under the top cover so we had to cut the "chimney hole" in the top.
The conversion to DHD (directly heated diode) requires only two wires change and a small soldering job that we can guide. This variant will appear in the 2026 price list, cost TBD. the old rectifier tube can NO LONGER be used after the conversion.

Lucasz, that's very interesting!
When you're ready with the rectifier modification, I will be too.
