John, Yes I have that one, and yes if you like J.L. Hooker pick it up. I will definitely have to spin that one today now that you have brought it up. The recording is good, no surface noise on my copy and the performances with Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, and Robert Cray are pretty much worth the price of admission by themselves.

That track was one of the finest LP experiences I've ever heard.... Allen Perkins (then of SOTA turntables, now Immedia) had sent me a hand-built coin silver-wired phono preamp to try out with my full Krell/Apogee system. You could literally hear the studio room so clearly, it was spooky. I may be wrong, but I thought he'd said that Petr Mares had built it. To this day, I still wish I'd had the $$$ at the time for that phono stage. Best I've ever heard.

Yes Mares built that phono section. Jonathan Carr and Lyra bought the rights to the phono/preamp and it is was available as the Lyra Connoisseur phono section and preamp. The top of the line unit was around 25K but as you can see, the EU rules and regs put an end to the product
Just ordered it myself this week. Had been watching ebay for a copy of the original on Chameleon records. Saw one for $9 on Ebay but missed the auction. The album didn't sell but the seller decided to jack the price up from $9 to 45 since it didn't sell

There were strict guidelines in how to turn it on and off, sequences and such. But, I will tell you, the transparency of that unit was amazing. I'll never forget the few weeks I had that piece.

The label on this recording reads Chameleon RTH-2018...licenced to Classic Records. Listening to it now....sweet, sweet sweet! A little bummed though.....the LP was housed in a crappy paper sleeve. You'd figure it would have at least some sort of anti-static sleeve.
