Hi all,

I just got a new MP-110 and have aligned it. Im using a RB110 tonearm for rega planar 1
I used elvon alignment for 9" arms

Theres 2 points on the alignment protractor, A and B. A is the outside alignment and B is in the inner grooves.
for point A it aligns perfectly and if I were to move it, it would not align perfect but for point B it does not align perfect, can I get any suggestions for why it would align for point A but not for point B?

I have provided pictures

Any help is appreciated, thank you

You’re not aligned you just have the stylus in the circle, you need to twist the cartridge until everything is parallel to the graph lines with the stylus in the circle, it should then line up in B.

The reason why you could only get the cartridge body aligned at A and not ta B is that the pivot-spindle distance is off. The null points on your protractor are not those for the pivot-spindle distance you've got. This is straightforward trigonometry.
One way to overcome this without drilling a new arm plate is actually quite simple. Measure you pivot-spindle distance carefully. Use Hoffman protractor, which can be downloaded for free, and have it printed out ACCURATELY - they have 200mm and 180 mm mark for you to check your printout protractor. If you adjust your cartridge correctly, you should be able to trace every point of the circular arc therein. The rest is to adjust the zenith. This is the best, but not the absolute best, for one to do it visually.
