I've read a bunch of long magazine articles on him in Rolling Stone, Playboy, etc.

I'm not getting it. He comes off an incredibly mediocre to me.:confused::confused:

I watched part of a couple of episodes and didn't see the humor.

Not just no humor..but zero charisma, zero star power..I dunno, maybe that is the appeal.

His overwhelmingly male fan base maybe identify with him and his mediocrity...LOL.:p

Must say I completely disagree I think in a comedic way he goes to difficult and very valid places. Shame, in many guises, is his recurrent theme I think

I tried one more time to get through his HBO special. I fell asleep. Boring. And boring to look at in that sweater.:p

I think his humor caters to a rather narrow demographic. Middle aged guys with young kids. I happen to fall in that demographic. I think he is really funny at times. I refer to his stand up though. I've never seen his sitcom. Very few can actually do both well.

Were you hoping for a miniskirt?

His standup routines are blue, blue, and blue. And I do think some of them are very funny. A TV show on FX is not going to showcase the same type of comedic talent.

I only know him from the stand up. I guess I suffer from expectation bias. Rolling Stone has crowned him, and so have a bunch of other entertainment publications.

I also think our culture accepts good as "great" these days in comedy. There are no performers the caliber of Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Damon Wayans, George Carlin, or Steve Martin today. We are starved.:p

They've crowned him? I had no idea. Hmmm. I wouldn't have, that's for sure but then again I don't know who else is out there on the current stand up landscape. Could all the other new guys be that mediocre?

What I like about him especially on his talk show appearances is his pretty straight up delivery. It's like having one of your buds telling you a wild story of what happened to him today over a beer. He laughs along with you as he tells the story.

Playboy interview, cover of Rolling Stone this week, multiple previous feature articles, etc.

Hard to day is if the whole comedy landscape sucks..but no one stands out in my mind..

Check out Bill Burr. Let it Go, but also his HBO special before that. Truthful, goes head on with stuff, and hystercial
