As a newbie jazz fan growing up musically in the 1960-1970's, I couldn't help but fall for DeJohnette's playing. Frankly, I couldn't avoid being exposed to his musical mastery as it seemed he played with virtually everyone I was listening to. IMO, one of the great musicians of his time and genre. His music lives on.

Sigh. Another great one gone.

I saw him for the first time in 1979 in the NYC Village with New Directions. I love all the music he made with various musicians. Big loss.

What a loss, such brilliant drummer. Just saw him once live, when he released "in Movement", but I have many of his albums.
All the best to his family in this difficult time.

I'm hopeful more young lions emerge. Great ones like JD are irreplaceable.
