This is a good article about audio engineers trying to understand the emotional aspects of recorded music.

A challenging subject.

Fortunately there are many articles and studies about emotion in sound reproduction - Floyd Toole addresses it his book and has several references about this subject. A quick search finds many more recent ones.

In general, the modern audio and music industry knows about them, unfortunately some sectors of the high-end and many reviewers seem to ignore them.

IMO the Achiles knee of the article is admitting that a particular technology can be characterized in terms of emotion (feels better, according to the author) in general and can be represented by particular specimens, needed for practical studies. IMO a wild goose chase, however I would be happy to know about suggestions of how to carry such studies.

Curious that Barry Willis asks specifically for double blinded studies, something that, wisely IMO, is not accepted in the high-end in general.

Highemotionaudio, the company of J. Craig Oxford seems to be resurrecting, we will probably have more news on this subject soon.
