Hi all,
Some time back I posted about a driver update for the Kalliope here.

I am wondering if there has ben any firmware (mine is currently Menu version 1.3) or hardware upgrades offered by Gryphon since initial release?

There is little on the Gryphon website apart from "Gryphon Kalliope is built to be future-proof with modular digital audio sections that allow practical upgrading, as the opportunity arises."

Thanks for any info
David

As you probably know the Ethos CD/DAC has a different Sabre chip to the Kalliope.
This most likely means that something is in the works for the hopefully “future-proof“ Kalliope.
A vastly underrated DAC as you know.

Hello, was there any updates in the meantime or are all Kalliope still the same and the only one original software?

Hello. I have registered to the forum only recently so perhaps my info may not be interesting anymore. However let me write I made a software update to my Kalliope last year from v.1.3 to 1.5 and the difference is significant. I am really pleased with performance step-up.
Strongly recommended.

Just a bump - Gryphon Audio support?
Wondering if any Kalliope owners have updated to version 1.5 software that was mentioned in this thread.
Thus far no reply from Gryphon and can't find any downloads to that effect on their website.

The Kalliope was originally advertised as future proof in that it had ability for modular upgrades I think. The ES1098 chip is around 10 years old and I see Gryphon has used newer chips in some of their designs. That said Kalliope seems to still be their flagship DAC
Funnily enough they replaced Mephisto with Apex and Pandora with Commander where I would have thought there was less room for improvement compared to advances in Digital technology

As someone who has owned the wonderful Kalliope DAC, I can tell you the DAC in the Ethos tops it.

My Gryphon Commander has an external power supply that supports the Commander plus an additional source component. Currently there is only the phone pre amp available. I am sure Gryphon will release a new DAC that can use the Commander’s power supply soon. The Ethos has an AES/EBU out that delivers the signal of the CD transport so that would fit perfectly.
