I am very interested in the Fyne F1-12 and F1-12S. Do they create a large soundstage? I have Harbeth 40.3 XDs and Graham LS5/5 powered by an Accuphase C2900/A80 comb. I also have a pair of Rythmik 15” subs. Room is 5m x 10m with 2.5m ceilings.

Any thoughts on how the Fyne F1-12 would compare to the BBC style big Harbeths and grahams? There are no places near me to demo the Fynes. Finally, is there a big difference in sound quality between the F-12 and the F1-12S? Prices of second hand F1-10 and F1-12 are not unreasonable. New F-1-10/12S are pretty pricy.

(Apologies if this thread is appearing twice. Editor error on my part if it does.)

Thanks

Lew

Sorry, I never saw this but the big Fynes soundstage quite well and have great tonality. They don't sound box like as the Harbs and Grahams. They also are more neutral. The ability to adjust the treble for the room is nice. For the used prices they go for, hard to find a better speaker than the F1-12.

My recommendation would be the F1-12S. They are very different from the F1-12. They have been improved in several ways. The reproduction of musical material is very different compared to the BBC school of sound, I mean the Spendor Classic series (Classic 100 for example). The F1-12S's reproduction of musical material differs in response to any pair of speakers I've heard. In a word, it is grandiose. Such a thing is rarely found, the warmest recommendation for the F1-12S. Just one note, they require a very high quality and powerful amplifier. Transistor AB with power greater than 140W, and in class A (transistor or lamp-based 70 W to 90 W depending on the space, amount of furniture and possibly acoustic treatment. F1-12S is one of the few speakers in that class that reproduces rock music, hard rock, psychedelia and other rock subgenres exactly as it should. I'm not saying that other speakers have weaker reproduction, but that these do it properly.

I wonder if the smaller, bookshelf-size F1-5 or F1-8 have any of the magic of the floorstanding members of the F1 series....
