Dear Central Europe Audiophiles,

Next weekend will be the FAS Zurich, held actually just outside Zurich in Regensdorf at the Movenpick Hotel.

A bit of news about FAS Zurich.

I and my colleagues will be having a room this year at the show!! Our room will demo the following equipment:

Aries Cerat Protos Integrated Amp, Helene DAC and the new Hermes phonostage

Odeon Semper Loudspeakers

J.Sikora Aspire and/or Standard Max turntables/arms with Koetsu cartridge

Lucas Domansky digital server (model tbd.)

The debut of Zurich based Anonymous Cables (digital and analog)

Savar systems SFERE F2 racks

We will be in one of the downstairs larger rooms (61sqm), so anyone on the forum who is coming to the show please come see us and introduce yourself, if I don't know you already.

This will be an opportunity to hear an all Prestige line Aries Cerat system with speakers that are an ideal partner for this level of gear.

Cheers,
Brad

Great job guys - easily by big margin best room of the show.

I think there were several highlights at the show, so a bit more structured feedback is mandetory, except for just pushing some friends.

Out of the big rooms the Odeon and Aries Cerat room was for me engaging, dynamic and musical. Not the last word in coherence and i Iiked the sound better on the first day for some reason. The digital to me was actually more enjoyable then the J Sikora, but I suspect the arm setup. Something changed on day 2. Overall a great room and effort with a great ictra design Proto AS Rack.

The Auer Acoustics room was an impressive showcase of a room into a room concept, but the Soulution 717 or Oladra was not an ideal match with the speakers. The combination with Pink Faun and some tubes is more to my liking, but one has to commend the effort of the room.

The Zeiller room with the modified Garrad 401 is a musical concept that surely has a lot of appeal. Its systems thinking and a great design language, very entertaining on old Jazz records.

One should mention the smal room setup where Lothar Brandt, Chief Writer of the Swiss.Audio magazine showcased lots of musical insights, back story's and anecdotes while spinning records on the Kronos Perpetual turntable. Only 4 seats, but the focus was on networking and music.

Goldmund showcased their all in one systems which is gaining popularity.

Out of the show came a lot of contacts and interested parties. So for me, it was a fun show and I hope that people will actually make an effort to visit for themselves and read more insights.

It was indeed a nice show and a possibility for everybody to chat with some of the greatest sound designers of Switzerland and more such as Jean-Pascal Panchard (Stenheim), Daniel Weiss (Weiss..), Micha and Ramona Huber (Hifiction, Thales, EMT, Exquisite), Robert Huber (HSE Swiss), Fabrice del Preto (PSI Audio), Daniela Manger (Manger Audio), Florian Wiegand (Clarisys), etc...

Participants were involved and particularly focused on there listening sessions. Something that I noticed in every room I visited.

I was particularly impressed by the active Manger speakers pared with Thales turntables and phonostage. The sound was great and the look superb.

In the Music and Form room : the combination of the Nagra classic line + there own design speakers at a very reasonable pricing under the brand Seidenton was fun and very addictive (and they were playing quite live... :D).

And last but not least... The Livebox designed by Daniel Weiss in collaboration with PSI Audio was quite something if you were sitted properly in the sweet spot. The ultimate boom box... but just too big to be sitting underneath a television. Soundstage was crazy as bass rendition. It was my first time listening to such a device with no artificial overboost of lower frequencies killing the sound. A true high fidelity sound that also acknowledged that limitations in terms of high SPL does exist and should not be pushed over the limits.

It was fun to play with the ACS Switzerland room. A team of nice people with a nice sounding proposition. I think the J. Aspire, level entry turntable, draw a lot of attentions and it was also a possibility for people to successfully reconnect with the Koetsu sound. I really liked the Aries Cerat DAC... ;)

Looking forward to doing it again next year !
