In the January 2019 issue of The Absolute Sound Don Saltzman delivers what I think is a fantastically engaging, interesting and communicative review of the Audio Research Corporation REF 750 SE amplifier.

In the review Don discusses the sonic benefits of seemingly “excess” amplifier power, and compares and contrasts the REF 750 SE to the ARC REF 250 SE and to his long-tenured VTL MB-750s.

I recommend reading this review. I think it is one of Don’s best reviews.

Resurrecting a long dead thread of Ron’s, I’m the proud owner of a pair of NOS ARC 750 SEs. Don’s review could not be more spot on. What an amplifier! After owning many high end amplifiers over almost 40 years, you think you’ve heard them all till you encounter the 750 SEs. It is simply head and shoulders above every amplifier I have ever owned, tube ir solid state. ARC warns that you need 600 hours to fully break in the 750 SEs. I’m far from that, having less than a dozen hours on mine. I can’t imagine how much better they’ll get. WOW doesn’t seem to cut it.

I listen to Don's frequently! Enjoy them, godofwealth!

I’m so indebted to you for alerting me to Don’s review in TAS. I was looking to replace my previous ARC monoblocks and your recommendation is what got me to consider the 750 SE.
