* Did you watch a film last night (on Blu or DVD), and what was it? *

I watched no movie last night; instead I perused through the Special Features...mainly of Furious 7 and some from Mad Max: Fury Road.

If you like Action movies; get those two, on Blu.
If you like 3D Blu-ray movies, get 'Mad Max' 3D version (it's in Dolby Atmos too, for both the 2D & 3D versions).

* 'Furious 7' was in 3D @ some theaters, but not on Blu...sad. ...And no Dolby Atmos for this baby...sad.
Anyway the 2D sound and picture in 'Furious 7' is pure adrenaline dynamite.

I love movies...that are top crazy engaging...very good escape from life's banality...sometimes.
And those two flicks above are just what has been prescribed by the master guru of the universe...whoever you decide he/she is. :b
...Most likely them two Hollywood film directors; George Miller (Max) & James Wan (F7).

Watched Saving Mr. Banks

Just bought the Mad Max Anthology on Blu All 4 movies for $50, Let the fun Begin!

Cool...this series reminds me the closest on how our real world generally works in real life. ...Enjoy the fun...and go get them. '-)

* George Miller, Mel Gibson, Tina Turner, Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron ... what a team, what a ride, what a lovely day!
I wish I was sixteen all over again.

The night the original came out in the theater we had a Mad Max event on the way to the theater.
I had a fully built and very fast Big Block 73 Dodge Charger and we were on our way to a buddy's house before going to the movie.
I was slowing to turn off the main road when a V8 Ford Maverick flys by at a high rate of speed. Normally I would have given chase but for some reason I did not. Just then the Five-O goes flying by withe lights, no sirens. We stop and watch, and we see the Maverick turn a corner, AT 100 MPH! I deduct he turned on my parents street and crashed, everybody else said he went up one more street, a major one and made it.We went to my buddy's house and on our way out went down my parents street and when we came around the bend in the road it was like the final scene of a movie.Cops everywhere, tow trucks, guy cuffed, guns out and one Ford Maverick sitting on our neighbors porch buried into the front door. When this knucklehead tried to make the turn and failed, he left the entire oil pan in the street, hit a block wall, moved about 8 feet of dirt, blew out the other block wall on the back side of the planter, slide across the front yard, knocked out a concrete porch roof support and stopped against the front door of the house. My buddy's younger brothers and friends were in the house and heard the noise, ran to the front of the house and open the door to a car pissing fluids and steam and cops pointing guns at them. They pooped britches and ran to the back of the house and knucklehead wad arrested without further incident.
All for running a stop sign a few miles back.Needless to say we were pumped up for Mad Max after that, and very glad I decided NOT to give chase.

Ok, I just saw another movie by what you just described above; yours...and that's a very cool one...lol. This is great coincidental experience with the original Mad Max; true real life. Thanks for sharing that one...it goes perfectly with the flow...with Mad Max flow. ...More to come...and more closer to real life than ever...like turning the water on for a only a brief moment...and other stuff like that.

? Last night I revisited 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey'...in (((3D))).

Ok, I have to say this now: I watched many Blus, in both 3D and 2D, I heard many motion picture scores, ...Mad Max: Fury Road, Furious 7, Interstellar, you name it...all the big cinema stuff I'm in it...not much I miss but I still miss a lot I am sure because this planet is much bigger than just Hollywood, California.

What I want to say is this: Some flicks they grab you in ways that no other films can, and 'The Hobbit' trilogy on Blu-ray and in 3D is the ultimate spectacle.
I love the LOTR trilogy, but LOTR is only in 2D...awesome in 2D but still missing that last dose of depth.
It's like now they have 3D sound...Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D (Movies) and Auro-2D (Music), and DTS:X comin' up.

I blew one of my subs last night, not because I was listening loud, I wasn't, it just happened. But revisiting this flick eclipsed Mad Max: Fury Road and Furious 7 just like that!
This is real cinematography, real music score, real fantasy adventure of the highest caterpillar caliber. It does to your aura (internal & external) what the others I just mentioned simply cannot. And it's not me, not what I think it's my own personal opinion...but what I think it does to anyone and everyone else who is a real cinephile/film buff.

LOTR and The Hobbit trilogies are high replay value, extremely. ...They let you know that everything else is just a fart in the vast galactic firmament.
Sure, people voted with their wallets for 'Furious 7' ...over $1.5 billion open wallets, but it it's not that kind of voting that is going to challenge the real movie kings in the true artistic sense...visuals, audio, story.

Let me put it another way, but forget the money made @ the box office, and forget all the rest; a flick like 'Furious 7' I would rate it about 2 out of 10 in comparison to the first 'Hobbit' movie @ 10 out of 10. ....'Mad Max: FR'...about 4 out of 10.

This is true ART (grandiose), this is it.

Overall score: 100 (out of 100).

^^^ By Jove, I think he likes them.
Me too, by the way.
Nov 17 for the extended 'Five Armies' or so I've read.

Ron, this is Cinema @ its very Best! ...And @ home.

The biggest your screen's size, the meanest your front projector, the baddest your multichanel sound system, put that 3D Blu in and excape reality for that total adventure/fantasy odyssey. ...Sure it's not like falling in love for the first time in that enchanted forest of our youth; it is much less painful and much more rewarding...without that extreme insecurity of our tentative/temptation towards our very first kiss. The second best ring after the one we gave to our first wife, is the one in The Hobbit and LOTR because we gain invisibility against our adversaries...which gives us a superior advantage; invincibility.

* I'm thinking about building one of those machines from Mad Max: Fury Road. ...And ram towards the Five Armies Extended Edition with it.

<<>> And Jupiter, ...he won't be ascending above this one...but descending upon, into the dark apocalypse of time.

Yes, I am familiar with the "Honest Trailers" ... they simply enumerate all the greatest moments on each film.

No no, they're just being honest. :p

No no, they're just being honest. :p

Lol, some of them are real funny...depending on our mood @ the time too.

With 'Furious 7' they put the emphasis on the "last stunt", and yet we already know that two more are coming...8 and 9.
They were not expecting $1.5 billion @ the box office, yet the film costed nearly $200 million to make! ...Where did that money went...in the CGI effects?
It sure is a pretty picture to look @ and with explosions coming out of our speakers/subs. ...Extremely over-the-top but so was Mad Max: Fury Road. ...Except that Mad Max has much more charisma...pure sci-fi in the desert land.

All the Marvel comic books on the screen are also mainly for kids and older people still young in their heart.

But all that stuff doesn't compared to The LOTR and The Hobbit trilogies in sheer artistic visuals and auditive (music score) power.
Here is real cinema with a capital C (high Caliber), as the other ones aren't...just Hollywood fluff to make money from kids and all that sort of secondary jazz.

'Mad Max: Fury Road' (3D) was cool, 'John Wick' was cool, 'Jupiter Ascending' (3D) was over-the-top too bordering on ... I let you finish the sentence, 'Furious 7' was lol, 'The Age of Adaline' was rewarding, 'Cinderella' I have yet to see, 'It Follows' was fresh, ...etc.

"The Honest Trailers" are cool to watch, after the fact...watching the movies first; then we can all laugh about the best parts these guys found for us. :b

? 'Furious 7' was more delicate...because of Paul. ... R.I.P. Paul

<<<>>> 'Mad Max: Fury Road' ...maybe not 4 (out of 10), 6-7. ...I over exaggerated to make a point...to emphasize 'The Hobbit'.
Here's a good test: Watch 'Mad Max' or 'Furious 7' or both...then watch 'The Hobbit' /// 1-2-3 and see and hear for yourself if you agree or not with me.

I finished watching (re-watching) the complete "Hobbit" saga last night, ...all in (((3D)))) Blu.

The second part..middle act (the night before):

111620_large.jpg

And the third and last act (last night):

101981_large.jpg

??? They all go together, the three acts. And it's the best of the best in all aspects...adventure immersion, picture and sound quality, and everything else technically wise.
It beats high time all 'Fast & Furious' seven films, and 'Mad Max' four films...and by a wide margin...just listen to the music score, just watch the vistas, ...it is simply high above all the rest when it comes the full immersive cinematique satisfaction all across the line.
...A well deserved overall 100 rating score, out of a maximum of 100.

Hey, don't get me wrong; I loved 'Mad Max: Fury Road'...with a vengeance...way of speech, but 'The Hobbit' trilogy is simply first class entertainment of the highest caliber in the scale of true artistic content in the real sense of our senses (visually and auditory) with careful compositions and acting.
And the replay value is sky high...it makes you realize much much more of all the other inferior and superficial films with much lesser satisfaction in our brain, heart and soul. I'm talking about the films from the genre I already mentioned...sci-fi, action, Marvel super heroes, ...those kind of flicks.

That is my honest opinion, more honest than just honest, the highest honor. :b

Anyone watched something recently of high merit? ...Looking for new inspirations, ventures, anything @ all...documentaries, music video concerts, foreign movies, ... It don't matter where...youtube, Netflix, @ your local IMAX movie theater, on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, Blu-ray...2D, 3D, even 1D. :b

Awhile back I watched Muscle Shoals and was blown away about what I THOUGHT I knew about music history.
Last night I watched The Wrecking Crew and got re-schooled AGAIN!

It's crazy that SO much of our music history was actually performed by such a small group of people.

So many singers went into those studio's with an idea and The Swampers and The Wrecking Crew made the magic happen.

Crazy how much of "The Motown Sound" came from a little studio in the swamps of Alabama, hell even some British rock came frome there.

"The more you know"

That's nice [strike]John[/strike] Mike that you share some of the cool documentary music stuff like that...'Muscle Shoals' ?

* 'The Wrecking Crew' ...I've got to check that out...new title to me. :b

Hey, you asked and I obliged!
And it's Mike :)
I go through phases of learning new information then phases of I just want to be entertained and not think about to much.

So I have the first three Hobbit movies and have never watched them plus there is two more out now correct?

What is the proper sequence in which to watch these 5 movies to properly sequence the story.

This seems to be the most recommended order.

This is a copy and paste from another forum.

I would start with the Hobbit first. Some things that happen in the Hobbit franchise have no "stakes" if you watch the 3 LotR movies first. The Hobbit also gives back story for the main LotR story.

There are risks that characters in the Hobbit take. If you watch the Lord of the Rings first, you'll know the outcome of the risks, and the tension in the Hobbit is reduced.

I found myself less invested in The Hobbit as a result.

So I guess I should specify the order I recommend:

1.The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

2.The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

3.The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

4.The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

5.The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

6.The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

I have both of these and watched Furious 7 this afternoon--- at just under Reference with DSU running. F U N!! With enough sub power (which I have with 4 18's and 2000 watts each) , this movie is over the top and non-stop action. Adrenaline Rush personified. Good guys and bad guys, good girls and bad girls, and car chases and explosions and buildings collapsing and good looking women. Plot? Thin but who cares. FUN!!

And then tonight we had some neighbors over to watch The Age of Adeline. At the opposite end of the Furious 7 movie. Everyone loved it. Loved the idea of the movie, the actors/actresses, and the ending. And started off the evening with some great wings at a local restaurant. Not healthy but goooooooood!!!!

Nice day.

Yes, that's a very good order...Mike. ...And only three Hobbits (a trilogy), not five. :b
And those six films all together are the very best of the best...the music score is unbeatable...in perfect sync with the gorgeous cinematography.
This is grandiose Cinema, of powerful immersion...visually and auditory...not many other films can approach them...in my connoisseur opinion.

Hi Chuck, both 'Mad Max: Fury Road' and 'Furious 7' are top-notch entertainment...just for the wild ride of fun...what's needed sometimes.
And 'The Age of Adaline' is relaxing and a lovely film for everyone.

* 8,000 watts driving four 18" subs should do the trick just fine @ home when watching all those mentioned films above, and from the first quote too.

I love people who love films. :b ...And music too. ...It's all fun, and peaceful.

I very enjoyed it...Cinderella can handle some pain marvelously. ...I was humbled by her all relaxed allure...with those three witches from nowhere land.

Overall (on all aspects of this Blu-ray): 90

Last word: Solid recommendation.

If you like the soundtrack, i recommend with incredibly enthusiasm the 9CD soundtracks below which literally are the soundtrack minute by minute thru the entire movie...when i am working and need the music to be consistent so as to keep me focused on a single train of thought while working...this is my go-to collection because i get 9 straight hours of music.

This is awesome Llyod; I should get this because I'm in love with the entire music score of the entire TLOTR trilogy on Blu.

You can watch any big box office flicks nowadays; Mad Max, Furious 7, Avengers, X-Men, Iron Man, Spiderman, The Hulk, Titanic, Avatar, Gravity, Interstellar, Prometheus, Exodus, Tron Legacy, any which one...just name it...but watch/listen to TLOTR anyone of the three and you'll be in another much higher musical class listening experience.
The bracket you are in now...is very obvious...in another much higher dimensional state. IMHO

You did catch @ 100% my prior message...the true essence of the full immersive cinema apotheosis.
Works with The Hobbit trilogy equally well.
