Last night I revisited this Blu-ray flick ::
Set in the sunset of a morning fog overlooking a skyscraper. ;-) This is the story of one guy making contact with an entity from the computational world of zeros and ones.
It is fascinating...it reminds me of ex_machina. I'm sure you guys all saw it/her.

Some films they have an imprint on us, more than another. This is the case for me with this one that I just revisited last night ::
And yes, from a DVD. ...So no hi-def picture (only 480p anamorphic original, and upscaled to 1080p), and no hi-res audio (only compressed, lossy, 5.1 surround audio in Spanish, or French, and superimposed with DPLIIx).
Overall rating score (film's emotional content and DVD technical aspects): 95.5 ...Perhaps not for every sensitive soul, but for them with that attribute, pure cinema magic of high caliber. ...Among some of the best.

I like this flick, there are some very cool/action/fun scenes, and with some more or less sophisticated touches...depending of your field of vision.

Finished The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) last night. Even John Cleese wasn't funny. Terrible remake.
That's because it supposed to be a "serious" science fiction film. :b
* I like both the original and this remake.
I know exactly what happened...I let myself get influenced by some readings @ another site...most likely from kids between 20 and 80.
So that's why I revisited this sci-fi flick, in 3D :::
This is bravura territory...you need nerves of steel to endure all the pounding and colorful moving imagery (CGI). ...And even more so in 3D.
The opening with the graphics is artfully well done...the music invigorating.
The acting is too funny, and the characters complementing all that fun.
Some scenes are truly eye-candy gorgeous...lots of care went into it, no doubt. ...The factory where they build them "protectors" from the very nasty invaders.
Other 'action' scenes are too much...blurry and unfocused. You can seriously get a bad headache from those, plus from some of them actors.
Overall (film value and all technical aspects...3D picture and sound...plus all the pizzazz that comes with it): 69
Or from a clearer perspective: Technical merit = 88 and Film merit = 48.5
Do I recommend it for people who haven't seen it yet? ...Certainly yes. ...And let the credits roll @ the end...for what it's all about. ...I bet that from all the people who have already seen it, probably nobody saw that end. I don't blame them, but they simply missed the best part. :b

This' quite a good 3D rendition. It's the type of movie for a 3D eye festive, with fantasy storytelling up in the air (radically, with lots of flying around...wish we could in real life...seems like fun).

The Blu-ray's picture and sound quality are top-notch. The 3D effects are ok; some scenes with cool effects but mostly ordinary...not to the same caliber as the best 3D Blu-ray titles...like 'Avatar' for example...and many more. I'd say average @ best.
But the plot line is impeccable, with the actors following it to the letter. ...Very convincing performances...for this type of action/fun trip across the desert on fury road.
If you're a Mad Max' fan, like I am, you totally understand what I'm saying.
Hollywood should make more movies like that, instead of all those comic super heroes of the last twenty years and more...it gets boring now...because most people have bizarre taste in movies...and it's that strange taste that makes money for the Hollywood movie studios. The best films are the ones outside the scope of boredom and money @ the box office...generally...but there are exceptions...like LOTR and The Hobbit trilogies....Fantasy flicks...the best.
This last Mad Max rocks the screen and with all the mayhem around...sound and all. It has everything in it; cars, trucks, music stage with guitar player and drummers, cute chicks, car and truck crashes, flames, red fires, explosions, dust, sand dunes, daytime/nighttime, cool makeups, characters, charisma, bravura, love, violence, blood, no sex, no love scene, more dust/sand, lots of it, sandstorm, a big one...noisy...boomy...active...style...coloring... all type of coloring...the actors/actresses, the colors of the sky and sand.
Overall rating score (my own; for 3D picture, sound, storyline, film production values...all that jazz): 94.75
? Last word: See it...buy the Blu...go along for the ride...and show it to all your friends and family; if they didn't already.
But be cautioned...there is violence...and people die...but not in gory ways but in glory ways.
...That's what Mad Max stands for: The Road to Glory, in a furious way, and anything goes...even that guitar player.
Play it safe, up to eleven.

What should I really think of it? ...That's a complicated and very simple question to answer both @ the same time.
But here we go: It was an audacious project/enterprise that those people decided to bring publicly. And moral values are online/inline.
The behind-the-line doings from some government agencies are to be questioned, and not. ...In the sense that national security is the domain of private eyes...I think. Our governments are here to protect us and to make life easier for all of us...after all, we are the government...we are the ones who elected the officials who in their turn elected their owns. ...Well, that's one way to look @ it.
I could easily go in depth on this subject and on the ultimate motivation of Edward Snowden, but this documentary alone is not the key...there is much more reading that is much more revealing for all online. This, just an addition to it all...with an interview with the young guy himself...a glimpse on his interaction with the interviewer/news reporter.
And @ the end there is that true underlining fact; some stuff is better stay secret. It is the final outcome, the people's lives, how everything is affected with all the concrete results that count...and that, is as easy to evaluate as it is to measure in the most objective way.
I was certainly glued to the words spoken and to all the gestures from all parties of that interview.
I am not rating this one, I am simply recommending a viewing. It makes you think, researching more, discovering, and questioning your own moral values in the realistic world we all live in...especially the undercover world of spies and everything related to them...nations security, terrorism, corruption, bad deals, ...all that jazz.
Is it better or worst for mankind...I let you all be your own judge of that.

I started watching the 2D version this time around (last night), but somewhere in the movie I fell asleep, and when I woke up the screen was fixated to Max main logo page menu.
I cannot even remember @ what moment I passed out, on the couch...what I know is that it was near the beginning...within the first twenty minutes or so.
And I don't drink...very very rarely...and with extreme moderation...like a priest...no, not like a priest like a saint.
