* Did you watch a film last night (on Blu or DVD), and what was it? *

Last night.

* Mad Max with a Bible twist! :)

2.0 stars out of 5 for the movie itself! My own score.

My favourite mindless series has been Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, and previously Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Lots of violence and sex. My wife and I would snuggle in bed with the iPad after the kids have gone to sleep......
Absolutely one of my guilty pleasures - the ultimate guy show, although my wife enjoyed it too.

Judges? Ding. Heck yeah, that applies. Why not? It's a blu-ray and you watched it.

Diner.

Tim

Fantastic film. Ever get the feeling there's something we don't know about?

Started 'Enter the Void' -- cinematically striking, but tough to watch, and not always for the right reasons.

* What I like most about this flick, besides a great picture quality, and story concept, is the Movie soundtrack!
Even in the quieter moments the musical score is engulfing, surrounding! ...Just the correct amount!
And it matches the story appropriately.

Overall Score: 4,000 bullets (out of 5,000).

The Virgin Suicides. Interesting movie.

The Stoning of Soraya M.

I had the Netflix BD for about a month before I decided that I really did want to see it. A very powerful film. Hard to forget. Shot digitally with Thomson Viper camera system, in an undisclosed location. See http://www.highdefdiscnews.com/?p=38433

They removed the trailer and all the screen shots! :(

Lots of screen shots, etc. at the film's website: http://www.thestoning.com/

Yes I did a lot of research on this now.

And I feel ALL the injustice all across our planet, not just in Iran but also in EVERY country of the globe!
I can write a book about it, but that simply won't resolve the issue.
It is extremely sad that we live in this type of world with people like that!

There should be a WORLD court with real justice and protection against hurting humanity and human beings!
The mayor of what? Death?

Watched this tonight:

Good movie, BUT IMHO, not as good as what the critics thought and certainly not good enough to earn the academy awards that it did for 'Best Picture', 'Best Director' etc. I think the academy just wanted to snub 'Avatar' and the huge ego of James Cameron that year.:eek:

To me, Hurt Locker was a good, solid, high tension, edge of your seat action flick with great HT effects and I am glad to watch movies like that, but I agree --- I wouldn't confuse it with high art.

My story is that the Academy is politically liberal, which is okay with me, and they wanted to pat themselves on the back for giving the statue to a woman making a man's movie with a vague sort of anti-war message. Gives them an excuse to wheel Barbra Streisand out to hand the trophy and gush, "our time has come!"

And that's pretty much my take on the Academy.

You figure out which movie a politically liberal person would pat themselves on the back for rewarding and you'll have a pretty good handle on how they'll vote.

A dude makes that flick and I doubt it brings home the hardware.

Man makes action flick with good special effects? Dog bites man.

Anyway, that's my story.
