DCS Or LAMPIZATOR- YOUR CONSIDERATIONS.

I was having a special trannie installed in my GG as my voltage is very high in my house - 252volts most of the day. So - when in the workshop...

I have new PCM and DSD engines in it. I have spent most of the time listening to PCM so far - it is incredible. It has quieter noise floor, more resolution, faster and just more vivid. I have only listened to dsd engine a little thus far so am not yet able to competently describe the benefits but I would say more resolution but more real / organic sounding.

I will get one speced with your tranny but with 242, so mine will be better than yours

Apparently he can do R2R DSD now. The R2R Pcm also seems to have updated firmware that is more liquid...though I find that hard to imagine.

FWIW, I did speak to Lukas in Munich regarding the difference b/w the new 2016 PCM engine and the R2R PCM and he challenged me that I couldn't make out the difference if he played them side by side

Ha. Mine will come with platinum transformers and unobtainium resistors soon :)

I know, he has 2 digital guys engaged in an Arms race and both are superb!

The difference is the R2R can do both and so has the autoswitching advantage!

Absolutely correct.... He actually did tell me that there's a competition of sorts b/w his two digital guys, each wanting to outwit the other.... Works for me:)

Der Siebener in my home.

To address some of your questions and remarks, there is no DSD option (not popular in Germany) and no pre amp option (most audiophiles have their preamp already)

Price point is 8.200€ MSRP in Germany.

The idea is to have most of the GG parts but doing away with what is not sought after in these markets anyway thus bringing the price down compared to a GG.

Are you enjoying your new dac?

Well, I've been owning a Big 5 with duelund caps for a few months now and I got to love this dac. So musical and rich in tonal colors, just pure joy to listen to it.

The almost out of the box 7er stills sounds a bit sober to my ears. I will have to give it a few more days to break in.

Okay. I did read that it was a cleaner sound somewhere - maybe it is the Mundorf sonic signature?

Just heard back from Lukasz. DSD costs extra and is an option on the Siebner.

Is your Dac balanced or SE? picture seems to be SE.

Different information on DSD then. Lukas should know best though....

Mine is SE as is my preamp. Tubes are Kron 45.

Just couldn't resist to switch back to the Big5. Definitly more congested soundstage there, the 7er sounds airier, starting to grow on me....

I jumped from the 5 to the Big 7. When you play complex music there is no comparison. the 5 cannot resolve it like the Big 7.

Okay, I got it know.

DSD is not standard as in the other models but optional for extra zlotys.

NOT an option is volume control and R2R.

The Mundorf parts are the same as in the GG. From what a friend told me, the GG is emotionally even more involving though.

GG mundorf is only in the power supply

That's a bit of a problem with Lampizator. Information is not consistent and at times confusing.

When you look at the website it states no DSD option for the 7er.
When you look at the ad for 7er it states DSD not standard, only as an option.

Regarding the Mindorf parts in the ad it states:
- In Deutschland hergestellte Mundorf MLytic Elektrolytkondensatoren des Golden Gate
- In Deutschland hergestellte Mundorf Supreme Silver Gold Ausgangskondensatoren des Golden Gate

Translation: Made in Germany Mundorf caps as in the GG

Anyway, I guess what matters is how it sounds.

Info may be old...work in progress.
I think your last synopsis is most accurate. Only DSD as an option...similar parts internally to GG, but even GG parts change over time, so a bit of a moving target.

As you say, it matters most how they SOUND!

Yes, the PCM engine in the Siebner is way more Advanced than the older Big5. Recall the arms race analogy?

Khonfused, are you planning to trying other output tubes?
