Custom LEVEL Surround and Knobs

Our products are all made to order and to the customer's specification. Sometimes customers have very specific requests and recently a gentleman wished to have dB markings around his LEVEL control. In addition, he asked that thin lines be machined along the edge of the knob and then infilled so that he could easily identify the exact setting.

The first stage in every pre-amplifier we make is to send detailed drawings of the design to the customer so they can check and approve each stage...

Next Steps

Once the drawings and design are approved, we can get to work. We're very lucky to have an outstanding CNC machine shop within a mile of our workshop and these guys make all our metal casework parts.

While they are a relatively large company, specialising in supplying electrical fittings to the luxury market, we have a very close relationship directly with the engineering department which means we can take advantage of the resources of a large scale organisation, but with the benefit and flexibility of personal, one-to-one service - perfect!

It takes a few days for parts to be machined and modified and a week or two for any brass trim to be plated, before we then collect the finished parts.

Here you can see the modified knob with its engraved line and the finished, gold plated LEVEL surround.

It's always an exciting moment when the completed parts arrive with us and this was no exception. Once we'd received the anodised knobs, Lucy carefully applied the enamel along the machined marker line and we fitted them to the completed pre-amplifier.

We were delighted with the finished result. We were able to meet all this customer's requirements and build him a pre-amplifier which perfectly suits him, his system and of course his music.

Will you be in Munich next week? Perhaps we could meet for a coffee?

Have a good day. Definitely nice to see the sun back out!
