I do not understand why any of us, regardless of their design and engineering preferences would not welcome this attempt to take ribbon technology to the next level. From what I can glean, these guys have serious chops for restoring and building Apogee-style loudspeakers and are now developing their original design. Alysvox has caused quite a stir with an exceptionally well-executed advancement of ribbon/planar technology. I get how some might find this approach cumbersome, but for someone that cut their teeth on IRS 4's, Mark Levinson HQD system, and Apogess I find this an exciting development.

Before Munich, I discovered an electrostatic speaker maker in Hungary by Popori Acoustics. PA has spent decades repairing electrostatic speakers for European customers. As is often the case, the inventor learned all he needed to know about the limitations of the existing technology and set out to develop his own to eclipse them. I intend to visit the good people at Popori on my trip to Europe in the fall and will provide a full report then.

Celebrate the bold entrepreneurs who never stop pushing the boundaries of what's possible!

The more the merrier I say. I think we need more panel loudspeakers in this industry.

The first "panels" I ever heard were a pair of Quad ESL63's at a hifi shop I started working at in the late 90's. I never heard speakers so clean, clear and natural up to that point in my life. I was hooked! I already had a taste of that di-pole/bi-pole sound with a pair of Definitive Technologies BP10's that I had, so going to panels was the next logical step/upgrade.

Only after a couple of weeks after working at this hifi shop, I purchased a pair of brand new Magnepan MGLR-1's which was part of their new home theater line. I made my own risers for them as well. For whatever reason, I sold the Maggies 2 years later.

For the past 20+ years, I've been chasing that Maggie sound through dozens and dozens and dozens of various loudspeakers of all designs including open baffle and Martin Logan's. A few months back I finally purchased another pair of Maggies, my current 1.7i's. I am never going away from Maggies again after this. I might upgrade to newer or larger models, but never going back to box speakers or dynamic drivers again except for bass duty.

There's always another one round the corner!

Ah! There it is! I was just about to make a new post of these, when I came across this thread, how wonderful!
I was notified about these from a very good & close mate a few days ago, that this could well be my NEXT speaker once the CLX's serve their lifespan. I might as well be buried with the CLX's, for there's no other speaker I'd rather own at this stage.

However, I've been seriously contemplating the idea of downsizing in time to come, plus the cost of maintaining tubes... well it's getting costly. Putin seems to be enjoying what he does best, which is launching missiles and bombing harmless people / nations, so that's not going to end anytime soon. People are hoarding tubes and suppliers are raising prices since all are going bonkers.
So the downsize plan was to get a lovely pair of refurbed Apogee's from Graz, get hold of either a nice Pass Labs XA series amplifier or an integrated DartZeel and call it a day! That's definitely a retirement plan I reckon, one that I can happily live with enjoying the fine tooones with far less hassles on the tooobs!

Then I was looking at Alsyvox, from a very serious level... however the entry price of admission for a decent high-tech ribbon sound from Alsyvox will find myself in the doghouse, without a bone. So I just kept pondering, and then came along Clarisys! Oh very very nice! They also have two versions if you like, the standard and then the high-tech ones fitted with those rare expensive Neodymium magnets, NICE! That would also allow these panels to be driven by tube amps from moderate power, just perfect! Enhancing their efficiency to very good sensitivity. The build quality is outstanding, at least it looks stunning, and the sheer weight must be something else! So I'm guessing that these are mighty fine!

The only issues is, there's no one that supports Clarisys down unda... zero dealers and no customer support for Oz. So, most probably this would be an imported item under personal affects, mmm... don't want to go there again. I've had my fair share of dealing with customs, duties, shipping & handling clowns, plus a few acrobats, during my very own dealership days, no thanks.
However, I think I'll start making some phone calls to my trusted mates in Spore and see what the goss is.

Anyone else on this forum actually auditioned these? if so with what gear and what are your thoughts? I'm also wondering how Graz and Hank would compete, and if these panels are quite superior, just curious that's all. One thing for sure is that they're far less costly than Alsyvox and if they can perform equally well or even surpass it then why not!
I do know that those refurbed Apogee's done by those specialists are really tops, and have heard quite a few in the past, which got me all excited! So definitely something to think about down the line. These Clarisys ribbons look like it's the next level!
Ok, off to snooze now, I'll contact the beloved mates on whats-app tomorrow and see how it goes.

Cheers, and enjoy those very fine tunes!
WOOF! RJ
