Carrying a tube amp in my shirt pocket. That's cool. Maybe it's just growing pains. I think they'll get it right eventually. I definitely want to keep an eye on it.

Repurposing Altoids cans for this purpose is pretty common in DIY circles. I helped my son build one too although once it was built, he lost interest.

Given what you said about audiophiles at RMAF 2015 it's nice to knoqw they have fresh breath. I built my nephew a bmx bike out of parts I found in the trash. AT least he knows how to fix a flat and make adjustments. At first his preferred tool was a hammer.
