I would assume that each and everyone of them is broken. The seller is not guaranteeing a damn thing.

$29K + $5K for shipping and the possibility of more money to pay to get it through customs is a lot of dineros for parts IMO

With the point of origin of the gear being Israel I saw that virtually every Arab country has been excluded for export

with all of that gear coming from the Middle east I would think $5K is conservative

I have learned if the darn things aren't working there just worth parts. The A810's are probably the exception,but getting any of these decks in working order is going to be expensive,frustrating and time consuming. I think 10 grand would be pushing it.

If I was just few years younger...and had one more room in the house, I would have considered the pile... maybe NOT. ;-)

The ideal source for Studers and other master recorders for our audiophile use would be the decks from a video studio or even voice overdub places where the machines don't receive much TLC but they don't get used 24/7 during their existences either. These machines are worth spending time to fix and rebuild, IMHO.

Judging from the the photos, all the machines got rode hard and put up wet for a long time. They are in one of the worst conditions for A80RCs and A810s I had seen on eBay.

This listing seems to just have come up. Appears to be in far better condition that that pile of junk from Isreal. Seems to have been a CBS radio deck. Which would suggest some pretty extensive use, but also some professional care.

Good observations.

Good: It's probably been used by people with some common sense. I see no razor marks on the headcover and the leather arm rest doesn't show excessive wear.

Bad: It still has the dreaded reel rub (as you can see above tacho sensor roller) and it certainly had been used well for a long time to have its pushbutton labels completely worn off where one can't see any markings for FF, REW, PLAY, STOP, and REC, etc.

Want to know: all the Canadian Broadcasting A807s came with Butterfly DIN heads. If this machine is indeed from CBS, it should have NAB 2mm gap heads but need to know their conditions.

I don't know if it has good beat or if I can dance to it ... so I give it a 6 out 10.
