I’ve read snippets of both sides for and against within other threads, but have come to no conclusion. So I’m opening up this thread on WBF with seasoned experienced members.

For better sonics, I’m trying to answer:
1) Do I need a cable cooker?
2) if so, beyond the initial, should I also include “periodic” cable cooking regimen as well?
3) is Audiodharma the best/acceptable brand?
4) if so, which of Audiodharma models here should I purchase?

Late reply. I own one, acquired about two years ago. I had purchased a set of Acoustic Zen Absolute speaker cables and couldn’t eliminate a persistent glare. The Cable Cooker came with a refund offer, so what’s to lose?

I tried with all of my cables, including AC. It eliminated the glare on the speaker cables, and on my silver interconnects. On various cables it had degrees of impact, ranging from none to significant. I’d describe the differences generally as revealing more detail, depth, and tone of instruments, plus the removal of aforementioned glare. I kept one pair of each IC uncooked to compare.

On the AC cables, it only made an audible difference on my very heavy gauge cables, which when freshly plugged into my Niagara imparted a duller sound. After cooking (and I kept one cable uncooked to compare), the problems disappeared. Reinserting the uncooked cable made them audible again. There was no effect on other mid gauge AC cables that I could hear, only on the 7 gauge AC cables.

So I am a believer in whatever the Cable cooker is doing. I never warmed to my silver interconnects until after they were cooked and lost their glare.

I have yet to recook the cables as is recommended but I’ll get around to it. I love the various adapters that enable your to bulk treat many cables, shortening the time.

If you are unsure of the model, give Alan Kafton there a call, he works really well over the phone, his website can be a bit confusing.
