Darn, my education is obviously getting dated, probably like me. I was taught in some materials class or other that it was a supercooled liquid. and flowed with time. Made me go and search myself. http://www.glassnotes.com/WindowPanes.html Hardly an exhaustive search of the subject by any means though Wikipedia has similar statements. Apologies to all for spreading myths.
