If somebody designs DACs you expect him to know a bit about digital audio.

Would you buy a DAC from this guy?

Shocking. I actually had a Beresford in on loan for a couple of weeks a few years ago. It didn't sound bad at all. A little soft on top, but not bad. Of course around that same time, I had a DAC/Headamp combo on loan as well, and while the headamp section sounded fine with another DAC, with it's own, it was like chewing on aluminum foil, so maybe it was a relative thing. Art of Sound makes Audio Asylum look like the Boston Audio Society, though. Maybe Beresford is just speaking to his audience? :)

This guy was, several years ago, banished from head-fi.org forums and boycotted for his nasty behaviour there and sneaky advertising ways. I think there's something wrong with his head :) Beresford brand is a joke :)

PS: Does he know that Foobar, Exact Audio Copy, etc. have the feature called "Bit-compare files" (see the plugin for Foobar here), where you can choose 2 different files and compare them? I used this feature to demonstrate to some of my audiophilic but PC-ignorant friends that WAV and FLAC and APE are the same, now matter how many times you convert it from one format to another...

He has some pretty strong opinions about PC audio and an utter lack of understanding of the basics.
Should join TAS as an reviewer…

Where is that ROTFLMAO smiley when you need it? I think the fact that the Beresford is a pretty good-sounding DAC, and that it comes from Stan Beresford at the price he charges for it, is some of the best evidence that it's not that hard, or expensive, to produce a good DAC.
